Jacques Duvall, the elegant lyricist who has written songs for key French artists such as Alain Chamfort, Lio and Jane Birkin, has come up with the idea for this album, in which his partner-in-crime Lio performs twelve Dorival Caymmi songs. Idolized in his country but less known abroad, Dorival Caymmi (1914-2008) is one of the most influential singer-songwriters in the history of Brazil's popular music. Major figures such as João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso have sung his praise and cited him as a prime source of inspiration for their work. The works of the Bahian master are subtly revisited, as if translocated to the Northern hemisphere, thanks to inventive arrangements by French musician Christophe Vandeputte, and to Lio's moving & lively interpretation. Born Vanda Maria Ribeiro Furtado Tavares de Vasconcelos in Lisbon and raised in Brussels, Lio became a pop icon in France and Belgium ever since the release of her debut single "Le Banana Split" in 1979, she was sixteen at the time. She went on to record several highly successful albums (on which she worked with the likes of Telex, The Sparks and John Cale), and pursued a career as an actress, appearing in no less than 40 feature films. 'Lio canta Caymmi' is the first album she sings in her native Portuguese.

LIO mal wieder ganz anders und wahnsinnig gut
Ich verfolge Lio schon seit Ende der Siebziger Jahre und sie hat so einige tolle Sachen gemacht. Bei Caymmi war ich erst skeptisch, weil ich die Lieder gar nicht kannte, doch ich bin nach dem ersten Mal hören sehr positiv überrascht. Lios mittlerweile reife Stimme passt sehr gut zu den Liedern und sind wirklich schön interpretiert. Auch die Arrangements sind gut gelungen. Ich kann die CD sehr empfehlen. Schön ist auch das kleine Poster als Goodie zur CD. Ich hoffe, wieder mehr in Zukunft von ihr zu hören.

LIO canta Caymmi nouvel album
Enfin au bout de de tant d'années, presque 10 ans séparent cet album de Phantom Feat.Lio sorti en 2009.Quel bonheur de retrouver Lio avec ce nouvel album, 12 titres comme tout ses autres albums, c'est peu mais excellent, un album qui dépayse,qui laisse rêveur et qui je l'espère ne sera pas le seul.

Lio Top des Tops !
Lio chante divinement sur ces chansons envoutantes de Caymmi !Mr Duval est un génie !Lio avec son album "dites au prince charmant" avait sorti en 2006 l'un des meilleurs albums de l'année .Elle récidive en 2018 avec ce nouveau disque !A écouter d'urgence !
