Possibly my favorite of the C64 collections
This collection is pretty strange but very diverse and lots of fun. In other words, right up my alley! Actually that's not fair, a couple of the games are fairly normal. Let me break them down. Awesome and fairly normal: Armalyte: Competition Edition, an R-Type like horizontal scrolling shooter Hawkeye, a run and gun collect em up. Go where the birds are looking. Pretty straightforward after that. Awesome and strange: Hunter’s Moon Remastered, not really that strange but the goal is to collect the sparkles, not to shoot stuff. Make sure to use the controller diagonals to select levels. Snare, a top down maze exploration game. Many people won't be able to stand this, as the way you turn is very visually confusing. However it is probably my favorite game on the cart because it's just so interesting. Okay and normal: Retrograde, a shooter where you can upgrade your weapons. Note that you have to punch enemies on the planet's surface and buy planet blasters in the shop to advance. Nobby the Aardvark, a platformer that has some stringent collision detection but is otherwise okay except for some really bad minecarting that demands a joystick you can waggle. Summer Camp, an old fashioned microcomputer platformer. Pretty rough but I enjoy it. Okay and strange: Creatures, a platform shooter with puzzle stages Creatures II, a game that puts the puzzle stages first but then adds in some less good puzzle stages Heatseeker, an exploratory platformer with physics and a lot of weirdness. You might have to watch a video to get this. Bad and a little strange: Winter Camp, not a direct sequel to Summer Camp but instead a series of minigame challenges that aren't very fun.

It’s exactly what it says it is
Nothing much to report other than it’s exactly what it says it is and there are no issue. If you’re looking for an Evercade cartridge with these specific Thalamus games on them, this is it and like most Evercade efforts it’s all perfectly competent.

A great set of one of the better publishers on the c64 at the time. Most of the games were awarded with excellent reviews in Zzap64 magazine, but keep in mind that these are not from arcade consoles but from a home computer and can be unforgiving hard to play compared to mobile games nowdays. It's a great collection and It's good to have them back in a legal way.
