Bit bigger than I thought!
I purchased this as a replacement for my old Fellowes shredder which was becoming more of a perforator than a shredder (after all it was 12 yrs old) the item arrived pretty quickly after my order. I noticed the deliveryman coming up the drive wrestling with what looked like a box for a fridge rather than a shredder, Oh I thought, I've under estimated the size!!!!,I unpacked and have to say what a great piece of kit! it quite big (for a house - ok for an office) it's not noisy when it goes about its business, looks good and deals with everything you throw at it,emptying it is a breeze and it doesn't need emptying every 10 minutes. It's not got loads of buttons (4 including a proper on off switch a the back) but is alsoslices up CD's and Old Credit CardsVery good cross cut shredder(remember to order some Shredder lubrication oil) to keep your identity safe!

What an upgrade!
I initially bought the Swordfish XC1000, which lasted 5 minutes before the auto-feed died. Yes, this is more expensive, but it's very quiet, compact and seems to be made of better plastics. The anti-jam feed chute is cleverer than it looks. Recommended.Update Feb 2013: Still going strong and regularly in a lot of use as I have a home office. It just plain works!

... one time as we it states but overall very pleased with this product
A bit noisy and doesn't shred as many pages at one time as we it states but overall very pleased with this product. The paper bin rarely needs emptied in comparison to our last one.

Solid build quality and very good performence.
Would recommend this shredder for small office and domestic use. Straightforward operation and clear signals on the shredder. I have been very pleased with the way it has dealt with a fairly heavy shredding demand. The machine tends to overheat and stop after approximately 15/20 minutes of continuous use but cools down quickly to allow a continuation of shredding. The shredder oil sheets were not contained in the delivery as advertised. However, after contacting the seller, this was rectified immediately by a refund. I would recommend the use of shredder oil sheets for fairly heavy use.

Broken after less than 3 years of very light usage
What a huge disappointment this shredder has proven to be. It's only a matter of 2 years and 9 months old (and the warranty is only 2 years) and, today, it packed up. I'm a home user, so it's had incredibly light usage - it's not as if it's getting hammered constantly in an office environment, and it couldn't even stand up to the perhaps 20 or 30 pages I fed it each month, it seems. I even ran an oiled sheet through it each time the bin was emptied to keep lubricated, for all the use that seems to have been. All it does now is make a particularly angry buzzing sound when you try to feed it some paper, it then shows the red light as if there's a paper jam (there isn't) and tries to reverse the imaginary, non-existent jam out of the machine. For the price I paid, which at the time was £248, I expected far, far better than something that wouldn't even stand up to 3 years of very light usage. Bitterly disappointing.

dont like storage bin comes with a flimsy paper bag which you have to attach. For a shredder that cost over £900 when first released it is not ver practical

Trusty paper muncher
Took delivery of this "little gem" last month, replacing my knackered and crunchy old fellowes shredder. The rexel is of superior build and quality and much quieter than the old fellowes. The rexel takes it's time to chew through the paper but does a worthwhile job and the antijam feature helps to prevent overload - thats what probably finished off my old shredder!A bit on the expensive side but I'm sure a worthwhile addition to the home office.

Three Stars
Whilst it worked it was very good, but died after a couple of months. The returns system worked well.
