There's not a lot of information in this book, but the illustrations are lovely, at times they can be sad or funny, and my seven year old son enjoyed looking through the book and laughing at some of the funnier pages. Like the page where all the animals are so fast they've actually disappeared from the book.It's a lovely book to look at, and it has made my son want to find out more about some of the creatures it includes, but that does mean we've had to go to other books and the internet because the information isn't here. It makes a good starting point for looking elsewhere.

Amazing looking picture encyclopedia. Bought it for my 28m old child as he loves animals. I expected a few hardboard pages but this book includes over 600 different species beautifully illustrated. Order came within 3 days thankfully to musicMagpie. Thank you.

Stunning book. I originally bought this for my friend's daughter but while it lay around waiting to be wrapped my 4 year old son repeatedly begged me to let him look at it and I can't blame him. It's a beautiful hardback book, the illustrations are brilliantly amusing, fab colours, interesting organisation of animals ranging from the everyday to the more-than-obscure, nice thick lovely quality pages... I bought him a copy for his birthday, he loves it. An absolute keeper.

Bought as a Christmas gift for a 4 year old and a 7 year old. Both loved their books. deducted a star as the pages were matt and not gloss so got a bit grubby after kiddies had paged through.

A fascinating book with great illustrations. I bought this for my granddaughter who is 4. It maybe a little old for her as there were so many unusual creatures that even I, (a great animal lover) had never seen or heard of. Probably wait till she gets a little older to get it out again. However very interesting and educational. This book is for real animal enthusiasts.

My class of 5-7 year olds are queuing up to look at this wonderful book! Beautiful painted illustrations and a comprehensive range of common and less well known creatures organised into slightly quirky classifications such as the architects (creatures who build impressive homes) and the faithful (those who choose one mate for life)..... Highly recommend for both young and young at heart.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 2 grandsons aged 6 yrs and 7 yrs. I felt a little disappointed the the book contained mainly pictures and not much info on the creatures. The book is beautifully presented and the pictures are well illustrated and would perhaps suit a younger child, rather than a 6 yr old. as the younger child would love the colourful pictures of the animals.

Charming illustrations, this was a present for a child but all the family enjoyed looking through it. Particularly liked the representation of the endangered animals - explaining why they are sad is a good way to express the message to children.
