I got this crystal kit for my 11 year old who is very interested in crystals. This was the perfect starter kit for her and it has a variety of beautiful stones.

Beautiful set, box should be more durable
I have mixed feelings about this minerals and rocks collection. It is very impressive in so many ways but I am really disappointed in the storage box.The collection itself is absolutely lovely. My earth science loving child will just swoon over the variety and quality of the stones. They are all a really nice size. He will very much enjoy brushing them, polishing them and inspecting them. The stone guide is a nice touch and is a great succinct introduction to the various stones. However, the storage box which I think is supposed to be impressive, was a big let down for me the minute I opened it.The presentation starts off great with the inclusion of the gift bag. When you open the box you can feel it is magnetized to stay closed properly. But I let out a literal groan of disappointment when I saw the cheap foam dividers which house and separate the stones. The listing makes the box appear as though it is substantial and durable. It's merely a thick cardboard with a sponge grid. In addition, the grid is not attached to the bottom of the box so you (or your child) could easily remove/move it and accidentally mix up all the stones.I was really hoping for something that would essentially last forever. This is a great collection and the stones will possibly last forever, but the box certainly will not.

Inexpensive and the stone selection is surprisingly good
My son loves rocks. Every time I do the laundry I'm pulling interesting looking rocks out of his pants pockets. With this in mind, I picked up this Crystal Stones Learning Guide, imagining that maybe it might be a good option as a birthday present for my son.Despite the slightly goofy title, this package of stones exceeded my expectations and then some. It comes in a fairly solid box with 30 rocks, a brush, magnifying glass and a description sheet. It also comes with a gift bag sized exactly to fit the box. The box contains a custom cut foam insert to hold the rocks and has a full color locater chart glued to the inside cover of the box so you can put rocks back where you found them. It’s pretty impressive when you first open the box. The rocks are the star of the show here. Unlike some kits like this, the rocks in this set are raw and unpolished. They're also actually fairly decent examples of the minerals rocks they represent. In other words, they look like the rocks in the description sheet. That by itself is pretty cool because it makes this set actually useful for learning about rocks. And they are nicely sized examples too. Many of the rocks are up to an inch and a half in diameter. The description sheet is ok. It could be better. It definitely was written by someone with English as a second language and it uses some pretty complex terms to describe the minerals while not always making complete sense. I also noted that the custom cut foam insert did kind of get crunched in shipping. The rocks are heavy and since the foam insert wasn't glues to the box, it pulled away from the sides a bit.Still, despite that, based on the rocks and presentation, this kit is pretty awesome. I'm jazzed by it and I'm not really into rocks. My son? He's going to love it.

Amazing Geology Kit for Kids and nerdy adults
This geology kit is fantastic! My kids have been fascinated with the rocks and crystals, and the educational guide is very informative. It's a great way to introduce them to the wonders of geology. The collection box keeps everything organized, and the variety of stones is impressive. It’s been a fun and educational activity for us to do together. Highly recommend for any young budding geologists!

Awesome Rock/Gemstone/Crystal Instructional Kit
This awesome geology kit would be appropriate not just for young persons interested in geology, but for adult collectors. The kit contains 30 beautiful natural rocks, gemstones and crystals. They certainly look and feel like real solid rocks and crystals and not fakes. They are each a perfect size, not too large or too small. The inside of the box tells you the name of each rock. The included educational pamphlet gives more information on each one. This would make a marvelous gift for any young person interested in studying or collecting rocks or for yourself. This is a great value for the money.

Great starter natural crystal/stone set.
Great starter natural crystal/stone set. Just opened this today and already in love. I've been trying to build my crystal and healing stone sets and this has a great mix for a super good price. It even has a strawberry quartz, which I was surprised by, since that's more rare apparently. Some are so pretty and, because they haven't been rolled and smoothed, they are beautifully natural with their original textures. They marketed this for kids as a geology set, which in sure a rock collector would love, but it's a great adult Crystal set too. Also, I love the way they set the box up. It comes with a paper gift bag also, but I really love the box. They did the chocolate box style layout with the name of the stone on the lid, lined up to the position in the box. They also included a big pamphlet, almost small poster size, detailing the stones and giving more info on them. So happy I got this. Never been so excited to open a box that I got myself. My neighbor got me into crystals and now I charge the ones I already have in the sun weekly and have one on me when I go out. Really do feel like there's a benefit, but that aside, even if you aren't into that kind of thing, they are still very pretty and would look amazing in a decorative natural bowl as a center piece or as a gift for a rock collector.
