Scientific Writing and Communication: Papers, Proposals, and Presentations

This book is absolutely amazing and is so easy to learn from. Just when reading, I've been able to identify where my writing needed improvement. Their exercises for each chapter are pretty good. They're nothing exciting but they drive in the point. I love it.

This is an excellent and logical guide to writing just about anything one would need to know how to write as a scientist. Highly recommended.

I work as a scientific editor and teach social scientific and natural scientific writing to graduate students, post-docs, and professionals who do not speak English as a native language. As per a one-star comment previously posted, I agree, this is NOT an ideal resource for the first-time scientific writer, or for someone looking for more general guidance; it's very high level, and really focused on the natural sciences. However, if you are, for example, a non-native English speaker who is publishing in the natural sciences, or teaching writing to this population, I really think this is the absolute best book on the market. The exercises are very thoughtful, and it covers all parts of the professional-level writing process, with an emphasis on the needs of non-native speakers.

This is the best book I have ever purchased. If you are in the sciences and EVER have to write ANYTHING, this book is for you.

I used this book in a science writing course. It was easy to get through and I learned a lot from it. Definitely recommend

I started to use this book since I begin to read it. I am an Spanish ESL an I've found this book very useful. It teachs you the common errors but, of course, how you should write in science. I think every scientific should have it, from undergraduate student to University Professor. It has lots of examples, very useful tables and exercises with its answers!!!

Excellent book. I would say its a bible for scientific writers.

While the information provided in this book is valuable and helpful, the examples, and especially the exercises that are supposed to give the reader the opportunity to apply the disscussed approaches directly are often ripe with mistakes of many sorts and seem to not have been proofread or doublechecked. This might have been addressed in the 3rd edition though.
