Isle of Skye Guide Book

A comprehensive guide to Skye
I've only skimmed through this guide in the few days I've had it but it seems to be excellent. The first thing I noticed is that the book is punctuated regularly with beautiful full colour images spread over two pages. Almost every page of the book also has lovely colour thumbnail images.Diving in to the content, this book covers:- Visitor attractions- Geology- Climate- Plant and animal life- History and culture- Suggested itineraries- Things to do/excursions- Places to eat- And so much moreIt contains a wide selection of useful maps which are detailed, full colour, and easy to read.In short this book contains everything you could reasonably want to know about the Isle of Skye. It will be extremely useful for planning my trip next year.

Contains pretty much everything you need to know
Prior to my first visit to Skye, I purchased this book on the strength of the reviews. The book weighs in at 256 pages and is probably the most comprehensive tourist guide I've ever purchased. The book is split into sections dealing with the natural history, archaeology an then deals with each part of Skye listing the major visiting spots as well as the smaller, less well known.Maps are provided in each section and at the front and rear, although, being picky, it would have been nice to have the grid references left on the maps so you could easily locate the various smaller spots.Itineraries are also included to the rear.A book to read before, during and after.

Great guide book
A great guide book, with the right mix of background, history and site descriptions. We’ve been to Skye a couple of times before but the book still gave us quite a few new ideas and we had a great time as a result. It’s not a trekking guide, but there are plenty of online resources for that.

Fab book but arrived damaged
Looks like a great book but I'm a bit disappointed by the bent and split cover as this was bought as a gift (I don't think this was caused during transit as the envelope was undamaged).

Buy if visiting Skye
The best guidebook I have ever read. Reads like a labour of love. Remarkably comprehensive in scope and the information provided serves to whet the appetite and intensify the impatience for the journey to begin, which is precisely what a guidebook should do above al else, imo. Some may find the book lacks detail but given its scope and the abundance of photos and other illustrations, it is brief of necessity, otherwise, we would be looking at a much longer book. A guidebook is something you want to be able to bring with you, without it being a burden and this will not take up too much room in anyone's bag or will even fit into a jacket/coat pocket.

The best Skye guide that we've seen.
This book has everything. Just about every possible potential visitor attraction, some of which the locals might not even know about is contained in this book, together with history, geology, climate, wildlife, culture and travel. It is incredibly detailed and really interesting. Pick this book up for a good read or simply glanced through it as a reference book: it works either way. We have lived on the beautiful Isle of Skye for a year now and I have no doubt that this book will be well read and well thumbed for many years to come. I have looked at a great deal of books about Skye and without doubt this is the best, the most detailed and the cheapest of the lot! I recommend this book 100%.
