Can do with more storage capacity for its high cost price of £157.
The item can do with much more storage capacity for the high cost price of £157 of which it currently retails for online on AmazoneThe item is not automatically recognised by Microsoft Windows 10. I had to do the usual technical repartitioning of the item myself to enable my Laptop recognise the item. Not everyone knows how to do this. I suggest people go on to youtube to find how how to do this.I did not have use for Tech support.Thank you.

Didn't work out of the box
I bought this so I could reformat and reset a cloud drive. Initially, the drive wasn't visible to windows or my cloud drive. I found a YouTube video which had a solution that involved deleting one of the partitions and resetting it. That worked and the drive was then visible. There were no included instructions that suggested I might have to do that.Once working it's very good and, I was able to back up around 4TB of data without difficulty.I've never bought a drive before that I had to do anything like I did though.

QUALITY ISSUE - Please Don't Purchase
G-Drive Technology initially had a good history within the Audio/Creative community, boasting well build casing/caddies, high end prices but fantastic support.Since past decade, this product was then manufactured by Western Digital (which I was not a fan of personally). Of a drive this size it's not always cost effective to purchase a 5TB SSD or larger, which offers you better reliability, as it goes for portable drives.I purely purchase this on ascetics and rugged casing and wanted a change and felt a change to my 20+ use of Seagate (Which I regret now!). The drive was formatted Mac Journalised, however I noticed when both drives where connected the boot time on G-Drive was slower and in time now many issues, shuts my computer down when trying to move files and light flashes non-stop, not allowing you open folders. Please note I am not a basic user hence the in depth review, I believe there is a faulty batch of this drive, poorly tested circuit issue with the enclosure. However, Western Digital DO NOT QUALITY ASSURE their products. So if RMA in progress ( a return) the faulty Drive is NEVER TESTED or report on fault. Yes, they will replace within warranty period, but how can you be confident the problems won't arise again?CONCLUSION:1. SanDisk Professional SSD Drives are fantastic which is a product of Western Digital, better reliable (very expensive)2. Surprising the success of SanDisks portable SSD, Western Digital cleverly changed the name of G-Drives to SanDisk Professional within the past year. (Which also sold to Western Digital 2016)3. If you get another 5TB hard drive, same format, you will notice the G-Drive will boot slowly. This is with the same data on drive.4. The physical drive is most likely OK, but the enclosure is faulty, but I will lose all data because $8 Billion profit company can't afford test returns, to ensure batches of HDD are compliant, as they would have to recall them all.

Here's What Amazon Don't Tell You - Formatted For Use With Mac OS Only
Had seen an advert for the G Drive on Instagram & pondered on whether to get one or just continue to use OneDrove which I don't really know much about.Decided not to purchase at that time & then an Iomega external HD that I had recently decided that it didn't want to work anymore, so I relented & purchased the G Drive.I was very impressed by its size as it was smaller than an iPhone! I connected the USB & connected it to my Windows laptop & expected to see a message saying that it was installing, but did not see any such message.I spent literally 3.5hrs plugging in, unplugging the drive, restarting my laptop thinking that was the issue even though it was delivered the same day as the drive (Easter Sunday).Still didn't work so initiated an online chat with Amazon Product Supportnto save me bouncing the drive off the wall! Amazon tell me they cannot help me! I have to call San Disk!So I called San Disk this morning & spoke to a lovely Agent called Ramsey, who informed me that these Drives are factory formatted to only work with devices with Mac OS & that is why my laptop did not recognise the drive being connected. He then emailed me some instructions on how to format the drivento work with Windows. I got slightly confused and asked if he could call me back to walk me through the steps to format it which he did.He remotely accessed my laptop & gave me step by step instructions to format the drive & they worked, ao no need for me to return to Amazon for a redundSo thanks for nothing Amazon Product Support!Just remember folks if you're purchasing this for a device with Windows OS, you will need to format the drive before it can be used, there are no instructions with the drive to forewarn or show you how to do it. You will have to contact San Disk or buy an alternative device.

Tough and decent speeds.
This is my offsite backup. I keep it in my vehicle so it gets constant small bumps and vibrations everyday over our country lanes. No problems at all, always works when I bring home and do back up.
