Powerful tool, great features, easy on the wallet. Enough said.
This thing is a phenomenal tool for the price! Great budget bidirectional scanner, OE level connectivity on all the brands I see daily at the dealership. Minus vin coding, this thing does it all, actuation tests, special functions, Bluetooth, WiFi, Secured gateway compatibility. This is my go to, much faster connectivity than OE tools in many cases.Rugged case that won’t let it get hurt easily.USB-C charging port, for easy charging. And a durable stand.I’ve tried many brands and Launch has been a top notch software competitor who uses Lenovo tablets and the most up to date OS.They also offer many expansion devices, such as aforementioned VIN coding boxes, key software, tpms programmer, battery tester, lab scope and more available for purchase to make it your all in one powerhouse.

You know, it can be costly to buy a newly released model, and luckily it didn't disappoint
As a mechanic who’s into US vehicles, I was really happy to see this scanner give me exactly the support I needed. It handled ABS light issues flawlessly—pinpointing a bad front-right sensor on my Ford F-150—and did the same on other makes. For Honda TPS testing, the PRO3 APEX beat every other tool I’ve tried (yes, even my Snap-on), delivering spot-on, reliable results that reinforce its reputation as a top-tier diagnostic tool.No single scanner does absolutely everything, but the PRO3 APEX comes surprisingly close. In my mid-sized shop I usually juggle multiple tools, but this one’s cost-to-satisfaction ratio is unbeatable. It packs a real punch, and for what it offers, it’s worth every penny. This latest LAUNCH addition is more than adequate for a shop like mine—whether you’re working on an F-150, Silverado, or Ram, it’s an investment that pays off in performance.

Excellent tool to have
I have been wanting a fancy scanner for a while, but hadn't had an immediate need. Immediate need came and I needed to be able to run the factory EPS reset function on my RX8. This let me pin point what was causing the problem, see all the necessary data to do so, and run the reset function once I had replaced the faulty part. The topology map is also awesome. Can't wait to use it on more vehicles in the future.

Terrible and not secure
I have tried a couple of different scanners in the hopes of being able to service my automobiles like a pro. This is another obscure variant in the X431 series called "APEX" that is supposedly the latest and greatest. If the intent was to say this is the apex of their line I can attest it isn't true. There are a couple of very well reviewed X431 series out there but I could not find much on this particular model. I think it is a branding trick as the Android version included in my model was up to date as of 2020. Yes here it is in 2025 and there are no security updates for this Android device in 5 years. What???? Strike 1. Next trying to use the scanner to do some very basic tasks like read a key fob or just scan the car was just a really bad experience. Slow communications, random noises that sounded like an angry cell phone going off and even worse disconnects at random. Strike 2. Strike 3 was the amount of missing connectors for the various types of automobiles. As best I can tell, this only included the 16 pin OBD2 connector. Other kits that I've tried out included the same blow-molded case that was full with 12 or so additional connectors for various car types. For a whopping $1K you would think this thing would legit be 5 stars. Nope. 1/5 stars and of course it is going back.

Whoa! Seriously Powerful Machine!
I've been working on a few NPR/WT trucks for a while, and they are always somewhat hard to get into without factory level scan tools. This particular truck had an ABS light on the dash, and I tried several other scan tools to help me diagnose the cause. Neither my Autel ULTRA, TOPDON, ThinkCar S10 or even my CanDo HD Pro would get into this module to tell me what was going on.Jumping the ABS pins on the DLC gave me code 33. Looking up codes for this module on ProDemand, AllData and Identifix showed nothing, and googling it, I found that code 33 could indicate a bad Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor issue. I used my oscilloscope on the Autel ULTRA and scoped all four wheel speed sensors. They all tested good at the wheels. So I then tested the same signal at the ABS module, and they all tested the same there as well. Hmm..I was told that the Launch X431 Pro could also do heavy duty vehicles, so at the price, it looked like another good tool to have in the arsenal. Not every scan tool is good at every make, and this proves my point.I connected the X431Pro to the truck, and with little drama, it confirmed what I had assumed at this point. The ABS module and pump on this truck has failed. I further confirmed that all power and grounds were good at the module, and that the communication between the ABS module and ECM were functioning properly. On a truck of this vintage, especially in the rust belt, you don't want to have to try to remove brake lines if you don't have to. In this case, I will still have to, but now I can feel confident that my other diagnostics proved out my other testing and sure enough, a new ABS Pump/Module solved the issue.Thank you Launch for making a great tool that can do Automotive and HD truck diagnostics, at a fraction of the price others are charging for the same capability.I will keep my eye on new Launch tools, and if you are on the fence, I say go for it!
