Hooray
Very clearly written, a wonderful introduction to everyone's favourite best practises tarball. It will give you a very easy and enjoyable walk through the choices made and why they were made, and why you might like to make different ones in your own projects. If everyone read this book, the web would be much more consistent in quality of work.Even if you choose not to use html5boilerplate because you are some kind of idiot, this book will put the tools in your mindbox that you need to start making standards compliant cross browser websites. And it will help to teach you to think that way. Some of the class names that Divya chooses are a bit mental, but choosing them's her prerogative I suppose, and she was probably just intending to be very clear. In closing, you really should be reading this book before you buy any PHP For Front-End Developers or Advanced CSS For Promiscuous Dressers or whatever. I really feel that you should have the correct and solid foundations that are laid down in this book before you start flapping around like an old tit using adjacent sibling selectors like you know the queen.

Excellent book, extremely useful!
This is an excellent book that definitely earns 5 stars from me.I first came across the book after reading a very positive review on CodeCanyon. I'm very pleased to have bought the book - and have found huge benefit even just from the first few chapters. The two reviewers on this site who state that the material in the book is largely similar to what is available on GitHub are (a) entirely missing the point, and (b) not correct in that assertion.Re (a), this is not a book for advanced web developers who already know how to use HTML Boilerplate. However, it is perfect for people like me. My competence with HTML, CSS and Javascript is fairly modest ... but I still want to build brilliant websites, to learn as rapidly as possible and to make really effective use of best practice tools such as HTML Boilerplate. This book is exactly what I need to help achieve those aims!Re point (b), I did look at at the Github repository, and although there is lots of great material there (much of it written by the author of this book, who is also one of the founders of HTML Boilerplate), it is not structured for beginners such as me. Also, there is lots of relevant information that is not in the official documentation but that is included in the book.In short: this is a great book, totally recommended for intermediate-level web developers.

meanders all over
This was purchased, believing it to be a book about using HTML5 Boilerplate, which is an excellent tool to use as a base for a new website design. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a design of a one page site, with no point of focus. The Author frequently mentions other sources that left an impression, but does not furnish click-able links to most (at least in the Kindle edition) making the actual articles in someone's blog virtually impossible to find. The end result is a miss-mash of information that is barely useable often creating confusion instead of clarity.Save your self some money on this one, and just read the free documentation available on the HTML5 Boilerplate website. It will make more sense and will get you off to a better start.

Much Better Than The GitHub Documentation
This book is for people who's HTML5 & CSS3 skills range from novice to intermediate and who are interested in quickly using HTML5Boilerplate to it's fullest potential. This is NOT the documentation on GitHub. The appendix follows the sequence of topics in GitHub, which is quite helpful. The authors have taken the time to give the reasons behind the functionality of the features and why they were included. This gives the reader a more complete understanding of the template and, therefore, confidence in applying & modifying the template to their own sites. In addition to the template tutorials there are numerous tips, links and resources for developing, debugging and optimizing your code.If you can look at each line in the template and explain exactly what it exists, how it works & why it has it's current value, then you are en expert and you don't need this book. If your development team is using HTML5Boilerplate you should keep a copy of this book in the office for reference.
