Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part 1: King Series, Book 5

This is a book you don’t want to miss!
The Evil Ginger has done it again. Only this time, she’s not so evil. Well, as reformed as a twisted soul can be. In The Life and Death of Samuel Clearwater, she still gives us a wickedly dark story but she also gives us our beloved Preppy back and douses his story with deep emotion. This is a book you don’t want to miss.Preppy is the 5th book in a series and you must read the four books before it (King, Tyrant, Lawless, & Soulless). Each one of these books is EPIC. The journey is one you will never forget. T.M. Frazier will have your jaw dropping, tears leaking, and hormones raging.I wasn’t 100 percent sure what to expect going into Preppy. He’s a dark character with a wild sense of humor and T.M. Frazier likes to pull the rug from underneath us. All I knew was it was something I was salivating to get my hands on. So, I went in not expecting anything (Plot wise). I had no idea where the story would go. I couldn’t have predicted anything about how T.M. would tackle such a complicated character or where she would take us but it couldn’t have been more perfect. She switches up her style a bit with this book and shows us more of her range, playing more with the emotions of the story. And doing it so damn well.Preppy is obviously a character that has been through a lot. Not only do we start to see the chain of events from the last couple of books revealed from his perspective but we learn more about his past and how he became the man he is today. You will feel the darkness from his world like his burdens are your own.Andrea ‘Dre’ Capulet couldn’t be more perfect to round out this story. She’s fighting demons of her own. She’s feisty yet broken. Strong yet vulnerable. She’s Preppy’s perfect match. Dre may even give Ray a run for her money as my favorite of T.M.’s leading ladies. There is a twist in the timing of when these two met that I didn’t see coming and it adds more intrigue into the entire series.I love this story. I love these characters. T.M. Frazier transports us to a dark and gritty world. The whole crew of characters have bonds that are unshakable. We see more of Bear and Preppy interacting one on one in the story and I absolutely loved that part too. You won’t be disappointed in this latest edition to the series. It deserves every bit of praise and hype that I’m sure it will get. I can’t wait to see where the rest of Preppy’s story goes. I’ll be waiting on pins and needles.

Oh Preppy im go happy your back!!
Samueal "Preppy" Clearwater is not you every day criminal. He is really not you every day man. There are a few things in this life that he likes. Bow ties, they are a must, Pancakes, they are the best, Suspenders, I mean come on they go with the bow tie. Add in his best friends and a little bit of drugs and you have a recipe for a good time. Dre is a broken junkie that really has nothing left. She has her ticket to go back to her dad and she is going to get her life back together. That is until she decided to steal from the wrong person who has the protection of the bow tie.I cant tell you how excited I was for this book. I waited ever so patiently for her to write this book. Preppy is fought over in frazierland and if you read her books you know why. This is book number 5 in the King series. Haven't started......go to search and get the first 4 books and start now!!! I love that this book not only it has Preppy and we really get into his mind but it starts when King first goes to Jail. King didn't even start there it started when he got out. I really wanted to know how a love interest was going to fit into his life. Well the best way is to find a girl that is strung out and trying to steal from one of his grannies. Did I just say grannies yes I did and oh and there is a pig as well. Preppy is trying to survive and get money while King is locked up and also try and get max out of foster care. Dre does more to him than he thought. Never has this happened. Dre is a interesting character. We have had doe that has lost her memory, Tia that has lost her parents and now Dre who is broken junkie that really is over it all. This is her chance and a better life and she is now going to take it serous this time. Blackmail and her grandmother are keeping her in Logan's Beach for now. This is not your typical beach love story. This books is going to make you swoon, it is going to make you anxious, this book is going to make you want to scream. (Mainly the ending) You will have a cliffhanger!!! That is one thing T.M. is really really and I mean really good at is cliffhangers. I think at the end of the book like all the others I wanted to scream. But its really in a good way. I cant wait for January and I thought there was only going to be 2 books and now 3 I'm pumped. Read this book if you like dark romance. Read this book is you like a tattooed man in a bowtie and suspenders. Read this book if you want to try something different than you have been reading. Just read this book!!

Long live the bow tie
I've just sat and read a book with a smile of my face, not because it was comedy but because its Preppy and some of his one liners and comments made me laugh out loud. Like I've said,it wasn't an actually comedy it was just Preppy's way and you never know if he's joking our not.Twisted, depraved, pancake loving, suspender wearing good looking man - evil comes in all forms even when wearing a bow tie.Dre is looking to end it all,she is fed up with the direction her life is taking until she's saved by none other than Samuel Clearwater, Preppy can't figure why he saved Dre, but she has him intrigued and he can't help but be drawn to her.In around about way while Preppy is saving Dre, Dre is also saving Preppy, but nothing is straight forward for the bow tie wearing Preppy, who would do anything for his friends and the ones he loves, so for him he can't keep Dre when when she want him too,no matter what she tells herself. So for these two "death is the end of their story. For Preppy and Dre it was only the beginning."The book also dealt with serious subjects that made the struggle more real and brought out all the feelings too, but the lighter notes gave it that balance because again,it's Preppy.Mrs Frazier knows how to keep you in suspense all the way through with what is going to happen and that ending was unexpected, but I highly recommend reading the rest of the series first as if not you'll probably be wondering what's happening.I love Dre and Preppy together and it made you love the unhinged bad boy even more, even his softer sides, and Dre was all kinds of good for him, I can't wait for the next part,Bravo TM Frazier you have done it again, Preppy is the best bad a**ed motherf****r!

Love Preppy !!!
Book five in the King series and this is the first book of Preppy and Dre's story and I really enjoyed it but not quite as much as the other books in the series. The writing and the story is good but a lot slower than the other books and not a heart pounding and exciting as the other stories. What I did love is Preppy himself. He is an absolute joy to read because there are so many sides to him and we find out so much about him in this book. He's funny of course, his one liners are legendary. He is wicked, he is damaged and he is evil at times but underneath all the facade he puts on he also has a heart of gold and is sexy as sin itself. When he meets Dre who is a junkie living in poverty and is completely lost in life, you feel yourself hoping for a happy ending for them both but this is the King Series we are talking about, and there is so much more yet to come and more to find out about these two complex damaged people. Who will save who ? Which one has the biggest demons to fight and can they save each other or destroy the connection they know they have found ?Told in duel perspective, the book slips back to past events as well as the present. I feel I now know and love Preppy so much better than I did before because he was overshadowed by King and Bear in the previous books and to me he came across as a funny slightly strange character, but now I know that there is so much more to Preppy than what is on the surface and I can't wait to see where he takes us next. This book pulled at my heart a few times, then there were times I thought OMG is this the Preppy I know and love. The man is an anomaly and certainly keeps you on your toes, just when you think you have him sussed out - BOOM he goes and does something that leaves your mouth gaping open in shock !!Low and behold the book ends on a cliffhanger of sorts and I can't wait to start part two of their story. !!

Didn't quite pack the punch I expected
I first read King a few months ago and King became my all time favourite character, so I read the rest of the books and really enjoyed them, so when I heard about a book on Preppy I really was excited to see what his back story would be. Although it's a good read in most places I feel it didn't go deeper in places, and there were a lot of bits left hanging. Also if you've read the passionate or intimate scenes in King, they make you feel something, you almost feel you are there, with Preppy, I felt detached, it's as if I wasn't invited into his mind. Preppy I expected to be far more dangerous then he actually turned out, I wish Frazier had shown more of his sadistic side, rather than some sexual frustration/ perversion, which wasn't even quite that. The scene with Bear I just didn't get, I understand that both Preppy and Dre weren't quite sane in the usual sense but reading that part just felt like I'd watched a mmf porno....I needed more on how both were thinking and feeling.Overall it was OK, not brilliant by any means and the ending was actually my favourite part of the book, I just wished Frazier had done a longer more substantial book than two smaller ones

Eagerly awaited
Reviewer's note: this does not standalone, and it is vital (and highly recommended) to go back and read the entire series first. Finally, finally, we get to delve into the depths of Preppy's mind, and after that humdinger of an ending in Soulless, it was needed more than anything. And I'm also so unbelievably excited that there will be three Preppy instalments (and I'm eagerly awaiting the next part after the humdinger of an ending here). Now I've got that gushing preamble and fangirling over Frazier over with, onto the review.Frazier's greatest strength is her development and creation of characters. All through this series, we've had strength after strength, with both the males and females, but Preppy transcends them all. There isn't quite another character as vulgar, hilarious and dark as him, and this instalment only serves to increase my love of him. I was immediately wrapped up in the plot, and the relationship between him and Dre.This was largely relationship-driven, with very little external plot, but the isolation really worked. It reflected Preppy's own isolation of this part of his life amongst his friends, and the seeds for the climax were sown ever so delicately towards the beginning, enough that the big unfolding drama came as a bit of a surprise, rather than falling into predictability. The sex scenes were, as ever, totally f***** up and totally hot - but, I have to put this out there, I was expecting something even worse and was slightly disappointed when it didn't happen. Yes, there was a mild case of somnophilia early on, and a fair bit of choking, dubcon and general aggression, but from the previous books in the series I was expecting darker than dark. Blood, more pain, that sort of thing. Hopefully this will pick up in the two future instalments.A worthy, eagerly-awaited instalment in the King series, Preppy, part 1, doesn't fail to deliver Frazier's typical angst and sex-heavy darkness, this time isolated from a wider plot. Although not as sexually dark as expected, Preppy's complex characterisation alone maintains the strength and interest into the outcome of this ongoing saga.

It seems like forever and now we're being tortured with three parts
Ooooooh How long have we waited for this book! It seems like forever and now we're being tortured with three parts... Yes three parts!! Although i love that he gets three books it's going to kill me waiting in between books!!!Finally this is Preppy's story. This story starts around the time that King went to prison in his book and leads up the present at the end of Soulless.Preppy is trying to figure out a way to help King keep his child out of the care system whilst he is in prison. He's looking into ideas whilst checking in on one of his granny growers and stumbles across Dre. Shes a junkie who is at rock bottom stealing off her grandmother with two men who are supplying her drugs.Preppy catches them and decides to follow Dre not knowing that she is Mirna's granddaughter. Preppy kind of rescues her in the only way Preppy could, for his own gain. The story goes from here and i will give absolutely no spoilers you will have to read it.OMG be still my beating heart Samuel Clearwater has stolen it!! From the very first moment of meeting him in King i loved him!! He's funny and charming and dirty and mean and heartless but loyal to a T everything you'd want in a book boyfriend. But reading this book there is so much more to him. He's a huge contradiction at every turn for every good thing he is he has a flip bad side. He's kind but selfish, he's funny... well he's just funny, he's loving but cold, he's sweet but mean, he's brutally honest but a liar, he's ruthless but considerate oh man the list goes on and on!! He's amazing and i can totally see why he needs three books. Ohhh he's also so sexy i may have burnt up a few times! I will say a scene with Bear... read it and you will see why i turned into a sweating panting mess!!!Dre is a very similar character to him i can see why they're attracted. She's also a bundle of contradictions but she's incredibly strong despite her weaknesses, and trust me she has a few but what she comes through in this book alone is amazing. She's pretty messed up but in all Preppy's preppyness he manages to help her maybe inadvertently but he does.I was gripped from the start. It was set at the perfect pace keeping you on your toes and wanting more more more!!! Of course when you get to the end you want to grab hold of the author and beg her for the next installment. I will re-read this when book 2 is about to come out and then i will re-read 1 and 2 when book 3 comes out. That is how incredible this story is. I have to be honest and tell you i was hooked on this author from my first reading of King. I've read every book she has out and loved every single one of them.I can't recommend this book highly enough!! Everyone should read it! I will tell you there are some sensitive issues in here but if you're a fan of a darker read you will love it! In fact go buy the whole series!!! Also big fat evil author cliffhanger which i unfortunately love.
