Vegan Is Love: Having Heart and Taking Action

Fantastic Book!
Honestly, my children (3 and 6) really enjoyed this book. I don't hold anything back from my kids, because they are our future. The earlier they know, the sooner they can become of solutions in the world and not become a part of problems. Sometimes graphic vision is needed to put just how severe a situation is and this book was perfect.I don't sugar coat anything or lie to my kids anymore. They ask questions and I educate them with facts and honesty. I also allow my kids to watch graphic videos on animals for educational purposes and also videos on many other world issues like the environmental disasters and destruction, the homeless, the hungry, the sick, etc... They will learn all that I learn.I just want the truth and although they see videos, this book written by someone else really brings things into perspective as to why we need positive change.Don't be blind, don't blind your kids. Be honest with them, they are all we have for our future.Educate yourself, your kids and inspire others to do the same. This book called everything right on the head. I don't think it was inappropriate at all. It was honest, fair, understanding and educational. My kids asked questions about it and I answered them honestly. They wanted to make other changes in their lives aside from what we already do. To me, this book touched them in a positive way and that's all I wanted.I highly recommend this book and others like it. We were lied to for so long, it's time to break that cycle and come out of our shells and stop the cycle of lying, and hiding from the truth. There's no easy way to tell a terrible story. Being honest has brought my kids to show full compassion towards the earth and living beings.Education never stops.Loved this book!

Great book, and very complete in describing what it means to be a Vegan
It's not just diet, being a vegan means not wearing animals or participating in any way towards their exploitation: visiting dolphin shows or aquariums where they are trapped in little pools, wearing fur, not going to the circus, and so on. They also give some nice alternatives to these shows and attractions, as well as more environmentally-friendly foods and farming. I think it does a good job of explaining the hows and whys of veganism. The illustrations are detailed and beautiful. I know someone raising their daughter to be a vegan and I got this book for them. While I don't own this book myself, I've checked it out of the library for my own kids and they like it. It's not too short, not too long. My own kids are old enough to start understanding some of these concepts, (age 6 and 4) and they have learned a lot reading it. All in all, a great book to have in your personal family library. Very eye-opening and educational.

I’ll be buying the rest of this authors books!
I love this book!!! I first saw this book on an interview posted on Facebook with the author. Being a new vegan family I wanted to share why we changed our eating and became vegan to begin with in a way that my three children could understand. This book was the answer. Regardless of what people say I don’t see anything negative we don’t need to sugarcoat the truth about the brutality that is eating living beings. And even though it shares some sad stuff as my four year old said and I quote “Mommy I love that book and how it’s about loving but I’m sad for the animals when they get hurt” passion can come from anywhere but we have to be willing to accept the truth even when it’s uncomfortable

Perfect for This Mixed-value Household
At this point, I'm happy to recommend anything Ruby Roth writes. I'm a vegan married to a flexitarian, so I have to be careful what kind of pro-vegan information I share with our daughter, lest it violate our "it's her choice" compromise. Not only do her books (this and That's Why we Don't Eat Animals) provide a fair view of my values, they do so in an effective and relatively gentle manner. For those critics who claim the images are too graphic, I'd counter that they're about as gentle as they get. Nothing in this book is more visceral than what you'd see at the meat counter of your local supermarket. It's certainly no Earthlings, that's for sure.

Very Gentle, Beautiful Book
After all the media hype over the "violence" of this book, I couldn't help but wonder if graphic images were included..they are NOT. This book is the antithesis of violent, it's very gentle prose and loving illustrations can't help but leave you with a sense of peace and genuine compassion for animals. I feel more than comfortable to hand it over to my 7 year-old niece and am so thankful a book like this has been written. The message is about choice -not guilt, about education - not indoctrination, and somehow the author has managed to take a very complex subject and turn it into an easily comprehensible story. I believe this book is a great introduction to veganism and compassion, not only for children, but teens and adults as well. Every public library should have a copy, please request a copy at yours!Ruby Roth couldn't have done a better job and I look forward to her future work..(and her illustrations are so beautiful, they would even look great as a t-shirt or bag collection).

Great for kids (and adults 😉)
My daughter loves this book! Our family has been vegan since her birth but I always felt weird talking about our ethics to others like her relatives because I mostly just wanted her to understand why we don't do something without demonizing others. This book was a great conversation starter for her. She looks at the pictures and asks about them and the book is the perfect balance of understanding and compassion for young minds.

Educate Children to have Compassion!
Fantastic little book. I absolutely adore the title "Vegan Is Love". Because it is love. One question I often get asked is "would your children be vegan?" Absolutely they would! They then ask if I would give my children a choice, well do they? This book is fantastic to educate children, as not many are aware that the sausage roll contains a pig or the burger they're eating contains cruelty and death of the cow they hug at bedtime. Educate children and encourage that natural compassion they are born with.

A lovely book for everybody
A lovely book for everybody. Beautiful pictures. Very useful to help a child of any age (and grownups too) to understand what it means that his/her friend/family member is vegan and why.
