Works great replaced a failed optical drive with something usable
it works great I did need to swap out the faceplate to fit my particular laptop as it was a slightly different style/shape but aside from that it was pretty plug and play it was nice that they included a screwdriver with it too but a nicer screwdriver would be recommended for this as the handle for the included one is not very user friendly but it was just nice that one was included at all A+++++++

Works perfectly in my HP Pavillion dv6 from 2012.
Comes with the caddy and a screwdriver. The screwdriver was nicer than I expected. The drive fit into the caddy well and the caddy fit in my laptop. No complaints.

Good for slim laptops (yoga book), not tall enough for older, thicker laptops (hp probook 4520)
This drive is meant for slim laptops, like a Lenovo yoga or macbool.I had an older thicker laptop (hp pro book 4520), and this was not tall enough to securely fit

Worked Perfectly
Really did the trick on my HP Probook 6560b; pulled out my DVD drive and popped this in, with a 2nd SSD installed. Couldn''t be happier. Bought an external DVD drive for the very rare times I need to read a disc.Would absolutely buy again for a similar upgrade.

Just what I needed
Needed to throw an extra SSD drive in a 1U server, removed the DVD drive and slapped this in, worked perfectly.

Did Not fit ASUS
Overall the product seems fine, but it did not fit my ASUS laptop as described.

Cheap rubbish; arrived with many scraps and scratches
No idea where these are coming from but the quality is terrible. I get it's cheap but all these products appear to be the same. Mine arrived with scratches all over it and sharp edges. I won't be installing it as frankly I wouldn't trust it to work for longer than about 5 mins. Shame as the idea is genius; but the quality of this one is awful.

Why pay more?
SSD used to replace HDD and used this caddy, 12.7mm, to fit HDD into optical drive bay for back up and storage. Easy and snug fit into optical bay in HP laptop. Seems a bit light in construction but does the job. The original optical drive trim is not a good tight fit on the end of the caddy but is not a deal breaker

Works very well on the Asus G53S series of laptops.
It works like a charm. If anybody has an ASUS G53S, then get this as you can now have 3 HDD, which is absolutely wonderful. I have 2 SSDs and the HDD that came with the laptop is now in this caddy. This, coupled with extra RAM, breathed new life into my 5 year old laptop. For ASUS G53S users: Getting to the DVD is not difficult - just more involved than other laptops. Watch a disassembly video. Just keep in mind there are ribbons here and there that usually need to be disconnected BEFORE removing things like the keyboard/trackpad/motherboard-protection-tray etc.Pros:- Fits easily, worked right off the bat- The bezel of my laptop's DVD rom fit nicely on the caddy- Well constructedCons:- The instructions (on the caddy itself) show taking something out, putting in the drive, and then putting that 'something' back for a snug fit on the drive. I did not find any such thing in the caddy or the packaging and my drive 'is' short in length. However, there are screws that hold the drive so it is not really an issue (i.e. the HDD will not, over time, disconnect from the SATA ports from vibrations). If you have an SSD, I don't think you'll have any issues whatsoever).
