They are as you would expect a beautiful tungsten colour, but exceptionally dim compared to my other tungsten fairy light chains. If you use them over a fairly small area that's probably a good thing, so it all depends on how you want to use them. One 240-lamp chain makes a good spread over a 6ft tree, I would say. Out of the two sets I bought one has three faulty sections straight out of the box, and no spare bulbs in the box, hence only two stars.

These are exactly what I wanted and was expecting. An old school set of lights. I hate modern LED xmas lights. They are too harsh. The light colour is vile. I want lights that are cosy and relaxing and these delivered.The quality is fine. Much better than the other incandescent sets that are still for sale. Clearly there are plenty of people of have bought these and found otherwise but I didn't have any issues. Don't get me wrong, they are not amazing. And 15 years ago these would have been 1/2 the price in every garden centre, DIY store and supermarket across the country. But that is the price of progress.Don't forget why these went out of fashion and why LED is popular. Whilst rated for outdoors, it will not end well. They are NOT waterproof. The only reason they are safe for use outdoors is because of the low voltage. That will not stop the bulb connections from corroding. And when one bulb fails you will lose a whole chuck of 20+ bulbs. Unless you like taking each bulb out and spraying with WD-40.

These lights are very dull. No brightness in them. I have two lights in my star and you can hardly see it where my last set of old school lights which sadly died on me this year only needed one to light the whole star. Do not buy. You will be very disappointed with the minimalistic light from them. They will have to do this year but definitely replacing for next year. Not happy.

Possibly a defective set but not satisfied with the quality.
