AMAZING PERFORMANCES FROM FOUR YEARS OF THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONIES -- 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 “Watch out for music—it should come with a health warning… And it can make you think that the world should and could be a much better place.” —Peter Gabriel As the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame entered its third decade, induction ceremonies featured the biggest names in classic rock from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. In many cases the original line-ups of bands performed together for the first time in years; other performances featured the kind of collaborations and jam sessions that have made Rock Hall concerts legendary. WHY BUY? This 4-DVD set features poignant reunions, moving and often hilarious induction speeches, and 53 iconic performances. Highlights from the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 induction ceremonies. Bruce Springsteen joining inductees the E Street Band for the deep-cut classic The E Street Shuffle from the Boss’s second album, from 1973. Legendary grunge-rock group Pearl Jam delivering thundering performances of Alive, Given to Fly and Better Man. The two surviving members of Nirvana joined on stage by Lorde, Annie Clark, Kim Gordon and Joan Jett for emotional renderings of the group’s biggest hits. Cat Stevens performing a spine-tingling version of Father & Son that rendered the massive Barclays Center quiet as a church. Journey performing three classic cuts: Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), Lights and Don't Stop Believin'. Ringo Starr being welcomed into the Rock Hall with a little help from Paul McCartney. Features complete Hall of Fame induction speeches, including: Coldplay’s Chris Martin inducting Peter Gabriel Metallica’s Lars Ulrich inducting Deep Purple

Some great performances but some unfortunate omissions.
It should be said upfront that this is not just a compilation of the annual HBO broadcasts which is both good and bad. Good because HBO heavily edits the ceremony and this Blu-Ray presents more complete speeches and performances. It's a very straightforward presentation of what one might see as an audience member of the actual concert, unpolished and longer than it needs to be but it's authentic. There are performances on this Blu-Ray that were not included on the HBO telecast. Unfortunately, there are also performances that were on the HBO telecast that have been omitted from this release. Some artists are missing altogether. Daryl Hall & John Oates were inducted in 2014 and Steve Miller was inducted in 2016 but you would not know that from watching this release as not only are the songs those artists performed not present, but the artists themselves are not even acknowledged. Other songs performed that were not included are Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's performance of "Kitty's Back", Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singing "Vicious" in tribute to Lou Reed, David Byrne with Kimbra and The Roots performing "Fame" in tribute to David Bowie, and Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney doing "With a Little Help From My Friends", all of which were included when the ceremony was televised and all of which are sorely missed.I do still give this release four stars because what is here is very good. The reunion of the two living members of Nirvana is an absolute thrill and the four vocalists (Joan Jett, St. Vincent, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, and Lorde) who were chosen for the heavy task of filling in for the late Kurt Cobain did a fantastic job. The living members from the classic lineup of Yes regrouped for an explosive rendition of "Roundabout" and "Owner of a Lonely Heart". I'm not even really a fan of Yes but I was blown away by this performance. Peter Gabriel doing an epic ten-minute "In Your Eyes", Ringo Starr singing "Boys" backed by Green Day, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's "E Street Shuffle" which was so good it gave me chills. And that's just scratching the surface. If you're a fan of any of these performers, this release is most definitely worth your while but it's just hard not to wish that it could have been more complete.

almost no music-just talk-AWFUL!
This product offered music, and low balled the amount of never ending talk present on this disc. Musicians were way past their prime We had to fast forward just looking for the few bits of music there. Found 5(?) actual songs rest was a lot of back slapping. A regular DVD would be far more reasonable choice, Blu-ray format was wasted, absolutely nothing was stunning enough to warrant this format. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! a catastrophe for those who expect music.

Not as advertised
I was so excited when I purchased this. I got a great price of $50 but I did not receive what was pictured. In the pic it shows that the set are packaged in large sleeves and should include color booklets with each concert. What I got was a package no bigger than a regular sized CD and no booklets at all. I could have purchased this from a bigger department store and gotten everything as seen in the picture so I definitely feel slighted by Amazon. Bottom line, if you are a serious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame collector you will be disappointed by this. Save your money and buy elsewhere, I wish I had.

Great
Stellar performances as always. I watch the induction ceremonies every year, and even get to see the concerts live when they come to Cleveland (like the 2015 show in this set). I wish there was a way of owning all of the performances at each of these shows, but having watched the original performances, this collection has the best performances of the years they capture. I hope more years get released. The induction speeches are hit and miss. Some are highly entertaining (like David Letterman inducting Pearl Jam and Chris Martin inducting Peter Gabriel) and others are boring. This is the next best thing to being there, and you can have repeated viewings.

Disppointing audio
So far, I've only watched half of this, the 31st and 32nd ceremonies. It's disappointing that some segments of the show are not included, Steve Miller, for instance. Pearl Jam's performance stands out, but the mix off ALL the other performances fir those two years, are not good at all. I don't understand how they could release something that sounds this bad. Hopefully the other two years are better.

KISS induction was missing.
An excellent program. I would have give it a 5 star but the best speech by an inductee was missing. And that was KISS. I guess that was left out because Paul Stanley did say some truth about the Hall of Fame.

Look At The Small Print
Unfortunately I overlooked the small print telling me that the Blu-ray can only be played as a NTSC. so I cannot give the "Concert" a critique. After I have re-recorded the Blu-ray will give it a review Sorry

Relevant modern history
Missed a large portion of music history being in the back to the woods movement in my early parenthood. This fills in the gaps and shows that even the greatest musicians are poets and statesmen and very loyal to their mentors and fans. Very diversified talent!
