The magnetics are super strong, but for some reason the collapse in on themselves making it difficult to build anything.

Has your kid played with magnetic tiles at a friend's house or at a local library (yes, libraries are a national treasure)? Are they disappointed when they can't continue playing with them when they're home? Then you need to them a big 'ol set like this so they can build to their heart's content. I like this set because it has a few variations and, IMO, a more appealing design. The best are the base pieces with the wheels so you (or your kid) can make mobile creations. I would be kidding you if I said only my kid plays with these. But I've seen everyone from adults all the way down to infants get the hang of these tiles and it's become a staple in our kid's toy rotation. This set is great and at a great price!
