Surfshark Starter, VPN, 12 Months, Digital Code

A really great VPN with an excellent antivirus included (in Surfshark One). They use the Avira engine for their anti-malware software alongside their own technology and it works really well on both Windows and Android. It also works flawlessly on iPhones and iMacs as a VPN (Apple products don't need the antivirus part so if it's only these that you're using, go for the basic Surfshark only). The antivirus is light and completely unobtrusive, which can't be said for a lot of them on the market these days!

I had signed on for one month, with a digital code, like this, from Amazon. All went well, I was impressed, so I decided to sign up for another year, using a digital code from Amazon. This did not work. Surfshark simply would not honour the digital code, I even contacted their help desk, explained the situation, they said they would contact me. They didn't. Amazon will not refund my money, so that is £35 wasted. NordVPN here I come, but not with a digital code bought from Amazon.

I spent months trying to decide whether I want or need a vpn. I don’t stream or download anything I consider dodgy, but I had a close friend who suffered identity theft and don’t think I want to tempt it. So I persuaded myself vpn is the way forward. I’ve used both Norton and Eset security in the past which come bundled with a vpn on Windows, but I use Linux on 2 of my pc’s, and now that Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows 10 my laptop has now become a Linux machine, which out of them all definitely needs a vpn while out and about. As always Amazon came to my rescue, selling SurfShark vpn at a very respectable price. From purchase to running on my Windows desktop was just a download, followed by two emails, say 4 minutes max; Straightforward and very simple. Once registered, the installation on my two Linux machines was a simple one line of code via the snap store, all good, and ran seamless. The only fly in the ointment was that my Thunderbird email app wouldn’t send or receive emails. It wasn’t a huge deal as I was able to access them using my web browser, but niggling as things had been going so well. I tried messing around with protocols as directed by several websites but it only made things worse. So I tried the SurfShark helpline. I had a very quick response from Sebastion who started off well, but whether I didn’t explain my problem well enough or what, he only put forward a solution unrelated to my problem. When I told him his suggestions didn’t fix the issue he forwarded a link to a website and cut me off, hence only 4 stars. That web link covered information way above my wave level, and made me very confused, but I persevered, and reading a Microsoft article pushed me toward understanding why my emails wouldn’t work. So despite SurfSharks unhelpfulness I did get Thunderbird working on both Linux and Windows at least receiving them with vpn on. I’m an expert now! So SurfShark is really good and I’m really pleased with it. It’s so simple to set-up and use on both Linux and Windows, Android too, but the support is rubbish!

I have always seen ads about Surfshark and I've always dismissed this VPN. However, I decided to go for it in the end as I needed a VPN on my router and Apple TV, both whom support Surfshark. All I can say is Surfshark is absolutely brilliant. I don't get speed issues, it works on Geo Locked content. I'm now a Surfsharker!

The activation code does not work. Contacted Surfshark and they were unable to assist and told me that they do not have proof of my purchase. Have still not been able to resolve.
