DIY roofer's lifesaver
Ideal for repairs at a height, using a ladder or working in any awkward/obstructed area... but please note the specific type mentioned are intended to hold lead firmly in moderate chases no wider that 16mm. While you can gently spread them (by lightly tapping with a hammer) if you have a wider (eroded) chase in a render I discovered I really needed the new large 'plus' Hall clips. While probably intended for professional re-roofing of sizeable properties they can certainly cope with 'wandering' chases eroded until they are at least an inch wide and about as deep. Since most of the sound flashing was held in with Hall Clips the professional roofer who installed the flashing obviously thought they were the business, and where the old flashing was still firmly attached (the render was still intact) they worked like a charm. Used in combination the two sizes of Hall Clip (by the way, you really have to look hard for the 'plus' size, they are only listed by one on-line supplier at the time of writing) I was able to make a firm attachment then fill gaping holes in the exterior render (using Soudal 'Repair Express' concrete - also available from Amazon - and topping off the expansion gap with Everbuild's Lead Mate sealant - ditto). All of these products allowed this DIYer to achieve a neat and weatherproof repair despite my having little confidence working at heights, not much room to work and a very awkward angle (in a long narrow channel about eighteen inches deep and a foot wide formed by a wall, a flat roof apron and three very wide Velux upstands, the chase a bare six inches above the solar chippings, and so are all highly recommended to those of you who are also unhappy up ladders, unsuited to gymnastics or those needing to make good a very leaky roof between cloudbursts...

good idea but could be improved and a bit overpriced for what they are
OK but not as secure as I thought they would be, would be better if they were wider and gripped better but they are much better than rolled up off cuts of lead and much quicker to install, but steep for a few bits of bent stainless steel though.

Strong clips and quick if you're in a hurry
Good Points: These clips are strong and held my Code 5 flashing firmly in place. I can't see them failing. Easy to use - just push in by hand then push right back into the gap between brick and flashing using a tap with a chisel. Great for if you're in a hurry and have a small-ish flashing job to do. Non so good points: Expensive for what they are. If you've got lots of lead work to do, 20 will probably not be enough. You'd be better off making some fixings out of rolled up strips of spare flashing before you start the job.

Very good. They really grip the lead flashing
Very good. They really grip the lead flashing. This is good because the mortar had deteriorated in the flashing groove. The flashing has not moved since I did this, (had to repoint). I found that you have to give the clip a hard whack to get the it to go in, but once it's in it's in.
