I'm not familiar with doing face painting myself, so I don't have a lot of experience to compare to. However, my first impression of this set is that it was smaller than I expected. But after using the paint, I can see how the paint could last for quite a few face paintings, as you don't need to use much for each one.With the theme of the stencils, it's too bad they didn't include blue as well (it would have made a nice red, white, and blue theme). But it's nice they included glitter as well. I haven't tried the glitter yet, but the kit includes glue for the glitter, and it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to apply.The stencils are pretty nice--there are five sheets of stencils, each with six different stencils that you can peel and then stick right onto the skin. They seemed to stick pretty well, but they weren't too hard to get off either, so I could see being able to use these a couple of times each (which would probably be fine for family members or friends, but could be a sanitary issue in other situations).I tried two different stencils on my forearm to test the paint. As I said, I don't have experience with face painting, so this was pretty new to me. The instructions said to use some water with the paint for the best results. For the first tattoo (the martini glasses in the photo), I used a little too much water, so the paint was thin and a little runny, which bled under the stencil a little. By the second one, I got the hang of how much water to use, so it was less runny and more vibrant (see the photo of the star).I think if you're looking for a basic face painting set to get started or something for a small event where you don't need more than two colors, this could be a good option.

My kid wanted a face painting kit and this one came with political messaging (weird!). There are a few usable stencils that aren't political, so it's not a complete loss. A couple of things to note:- the stencils have glue on the side that goes down on the skin - you have to leave them in place until the paint has dried completely, if you want to avoid smudges; this said, for anyone with gluten sensitivities, the glue probably has gluten- there is no indication what the paints are made of - I've seen my share of toxic lead-loaded face paints and when there is no indication of what is in the paint, my mind begins to wonder- the paints are thin and require multiple coats to stickOverall, not a kit I'd get again.

As long as you keep the stencil on long enough for paint to dry it comes out clean and crisp.

Easy to use stencils and paint. Washes off with soap and water.

This kit comes with red, white, and blue paint plus a little container of glitter and stencils. First, the paint doesn't go on creamy and thick like I would expect - you definitely need multiple layers which doesn't make it fun. The stencils are okay, but you have to leave them on until it dries or else it smears - also, not fun. I haven't used the glitter because, well, glitter. There isn't much I truly like about this set. It is disappointing.
