This CD Is Early Rod Stewart From My Teenage Years (September 1969 Thru July 1972).
I've got Rod's 2-CD 31 song Warner Definitive set which has tunes from 1971-1998 & I also have this 12 song CD. There are only 3 duplicate studio songs between the two packages and between the 3 CD's: there is some excellant music. Some fans only like his early stuff like what's on this CD but I liked his earlier & later material both. My fav's on this 20th Century Masters Disc are "Maggie May", "You Wear It Well", his Cover Version of The Temptations "I'm Losing You", his Cover Version of the Late Great Sam Cooke's 1961-62 Hit "Twistin The Night Away" & "Reason To Believe". This is the first time I've heard Rod's Cover Version of "HandBags & Gladrags" that's on here and though it's good: I'd rather listen to Mike D'Abo's (Manfred Mann) version.............Rod's version of "Reason To Believe" that's on my 2-CD Warner set is the 1993 MTV Unplugged version and Ron Wood is with him on it. The Version on this Disc is the Studio Version and both are great! This CD Package comes with a nice 8 page Foldout Leaflet with Informative Liner Notes & Photos.

A must have for fans of "The Faces"!!!!!
By no means is this a comprehensive Rod Stewart's Greatest hits... but it is the almost perfect( sadly missing "Mandolin Wind") collection of Rod Stewart's semi solo hits while he was with the "Faces" !!! As Steve Marriott was leaving the "Small Faces" to form "Humble Pie" which would end up picking up a very young Peter Frampton, Ronny Wood & Rod Stewart were leaving the dissolving "Jeff Beck Group" & joining what would be renamed the "Faces". In a short time with only four studio album's the "Faces" would make such an impact on the world of Rock & Roll that it would lead them to being inducted into "The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame"!!! And deservingly so. Rod Stewart developed his voice in "The Jeff Beck Group" & Perfected his stage presence in the "Faces" actually testing many of his solo songs while on tour with them. No this is a poor Rod Stewarts Greatest hits but it is a dynamite selection of his The Faces/ Solo songs!!! If your a fan of the "Faces" this is a must have C.D. as it contains songs that are often left out of "The Faces" collections because they are Rod's solo song's that he wrote while safe in the fold of the "Faces" & if you have a good ear you can hear his friend & band mate Ronny Wood playing comfortably by Rod's side. While Rod Stewart's solo effort's were spelling doom & causing friction with the rest of "The Faces" who had already felt the sting of loosing Steve Marriott, Ron Wood could care less because he had gotten an offer to join the monster band that is "The Rolling Stones" While this may be a weak representation of the bulk of Rod Stewarts solo career of Greatest Hits or Best of's, it is a must have for fans of the "Faces" while Rod Stewart may have put out some great pop songs & ballads throughout his solo career it is his time in the "Faces" & this C.D. of his early work that gives you Rod at his rocking best !!! This would serve better titled "The Best of Rod Stewarts solo Rock." Check out the dates on these song's 1969 to 1972 the "Faces" disbanded in 1975.

An Excellant Collection of Vinage Rod Stewart
I'm old enough to remember when Rod Stewart was one of the Biggest names in Rock. With a band that was way above the average during that era. I'll mention that he had spent time with the Jeff Beck Group and the Small Faces, but most of his biggest hits where when he took people like Ron Wood went onto create legendary rock group of his own. This CD collection has most of the songs that Rod Stewart was known for during the late sixties and early seventies. From the first song Maggie May through the 12 cut on the CD Handbags & Gladrags are still alive and well after all these years. The liner notes are also a reminder of who Rod Stewart teamed up with, and a few bands that I didn't know he had been with. The collection that has what I believe to be the very best of Rod Stewarts early pre disco work is "Reason to Believe: The Complete Mercury Studio Recordings " but it is a little pricey and at the price of this disk you get a solid section of the early years.Over all this collection is great and the price is amazing. There are a few other collections that cover his early work including some of the music that for ever reason was left off here, but this is still a CD that I could put into my player and let run from track one though twelve with a smile on my face. So if you're a fan of Rod Stewarts pre Disco days, this would be a great addition to just about anyones collection.

Rod Stewart CD
Parents definitely influenced me to add 70"s and 80"s rock to my eclectic collection. Classic rock is quite outstanding and I am amazed at the music produced way back then.
