It works well with cats and foxes to keep predators away from our rabbits
I bought one of these in October last year after we prepared the garden to lay turf and were having problems with cats coming into the garden to poo in the carefully levelled topsoil.Initially it didn't work, the settings weren't right so following the instructions kept tweaking until the problem disappeared. 8 months later and still no cat poo in the garden, which is a relief now that we have laid turf and our six year old Daughter uses it daily.I created some flower beds outside the garden and the first night I put down fresh compost, the cats used it to poo in. So, I bought two more of these devices and placed one on the gate angled down at the flower beds and as with my previous experience, having copied the settings from the original, no poo!We have concrete fence posts, so I have mounted the spikes in the slot against the fence panels. Having them at this height means less likely to be triggered by the rabbits wondering around the garden and a more effective deterrent for cats, foxes and probably birds (we never see them in the garden). Our Daughter is autistic and even though it's not supposed to be possible to hear the noise made, she can hear it but it hasn't caused her any distress. We do have plastic spikes installed at the top of our gate and fence panels facing the road. It's worth combining these scarers with spikes to be most effective. An added bonus is the spikes stop our Daughter escaping, as well as keeping animals out!

Absolutely work as a humane deterrent for cats, but beware snow may irreparably damage them!
As a lifelong animal lover, the sudden surge in cat ownership during coronavirus lockdown should have been a welcome addition to the community, but instead, with the sudden transformation of my front lawn into the neighborhood latrine, I actually found myself sympathizing with Mary Bale, the infamous Coventry "Cat bin woman"!I tried many solutions, none of which seemed to work. I must admit I was skeptical at first, but I can say these devices do work and are 100% humane. To begin with, there was still some digging and fouling, but it noticeably moved ever closer to the boundary of my property until it stopped altogether after about a week. We bought 4 to cover all the likely entrance points and give nearly 100% coverage. The setting intensity of 4.0 worked for us. The local cats now still pass through our garden but evidently are no longer comfortable relieving themselves within the area of effect. We live at quite a high altitude and this winter has seen a few blizzards already with strong winds and moderate snowfall which buried the devices. Two of the devices then stopped working completely despite replacing the battery packs and spending several days in the sun. If snow is anticipated they should probably be removed to a sheltered spot for the duration, else the risk is they will be irreparably damaged.I was disappointed at the speed at which the fouling (in both volume and frequency!) started up again with the reduced coverage. The marketing material had suggested a learned aversion would set in after prolonged exposure, but this did serve to emphasize the evident effectiveness when working at full capacity. Perhaps a full year of use will be needed to ingrain the effect!Otherwise, relatively low maintenance is required so you can set and forget. Don't bother with the non-solar version as they are a waste of money, despite costing less. Placement should be facing the likely entrance points of your property but not facing a public footpath or road else the battery will be drained faster than it can recharge.

Deters cats, but product and despatch quality need work
I have ordered several of these in the last three years.Pros: With some experimentation on the frequency settings, the devices do deter cats, provided that they are not deaf and that the view from the sensor is in direct line to the cat. The deterrence factor and product life remains good - I have found them effective for 2+ years. Cats continue to do their business in any area not within scanning range.Cons: I have had to return most of the devices ordered, either because of missing parts, or because they broke down quickly. There is also a major design flaw: it is impossible (in my experience) to attach the nuts to the screws securing the device to the stake, because there is next to no clearance between the screw holes and the side of the device, and the difficulty is exacerbated by recesses for the nuts.

Can't believe it worked
Saving the lives of cats. Having spent several thousand converting a large garden allotment, into a pristine lawn, you can imagine how disappointed I was upon realising, I'd converted the neighbourhood cat toilet. If anything, instead of being deterred by the lack of organic veg to poison, they seemed positively delighted by the soft green grass. Perhaps it was the equivelent of buying soft loo roll, in cat world. Through the winter, that part of the garden, which was supposed to be the kids' football pitch) was unusable. If the occassional football strayed that way, it stayed isolated in the filed of green (and brown). Often having bounced through several cat poos to get to it's resting place; noone wanted to pick it up, or landmined by cat crap, one daren't risk trying to get through. Helpless and hopeless, I ordered an expensive product which sprayed water on a motion signal. In the meantime, I decided I had to do something, while I waited for it to arrived, so I tried these. Not only were the amazing, they were also 1/2 the price of the other alternative. They worked brilliantly. Then the kids broke them both with a football, so i bought them again and I will continue to buy them. The water-sprayer thingy was useless. The only thing about these is that you have no idea how long the batteries last.
