See the world from a kid's-eye view with MATILDA, a modern fairytale that mixes hilarious humor with the magical message of love. Mrs. Doubtfire's Mara Wilson stars as Matilda, a super-smart little girl who's woefully misunderstood by her parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman), her brother, and anevil school principal. But with the help of a brave best friend and a wonderful teacher, Matilda discovers she doesn't have to get mad to get even. 2013 BD Release: From best-selling author Roald Dahl and the unique vision of Danny DeVito comes Matilda, remastered in high definition! This modern-day fairy tale mixes hilarious humor with a magical message of love. Mrs. Doubtfire’s Mara Wilson stars as Matilda, a super-smart little girl who’s woefully misunderstood by her parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman), her brother and an evil school principal. But with the help of a brave best friend and a wonderful teacher, Matilda discovers she doesn’t have to get mad to get even. 2016 Refresh Fro Review: A special release for a special film - Though nostalgia can often glaze over quality, it could be argued that Matilda is one of the most overlooked children's films of the Nineties. This may partly be down to a lack of acceptance in the U.S... But who wouldn't find this movie to be an uplifting experience? Roald Dahl's words have delighted children for years, and it's rare to see a screen adaptation that has at least equalled its paperback origins. At the heart Matilda is a very simple story of self confidence, but it also played out in such a way that it appeals to all generations of viewers. And what about the cast? Pam Ferris completely steals the show as Ms. Trunchbull - a creature that you can both despise and love at the very same time, so convincing is she as the manic headmistress. Critics think less of Embeth Davidtz as Miss Honey (Venturing on the 'gooeyness' of her character), but she provides vital relief in the story and is the teacher you dreamed of having as a child. Danny DeVito, who incidentally directed this film, is perfect as the egotistical and controlling father who can never be wronged, while Mara Wilson does a charming job of making Matilda her own. The film's transfer to Blu-ray is pretty much flawless, though I haven't come to expect anything less from Sony (Their reputation is second to none). Matilda arrives in its original aspect ratio of 2.40:1, which makes the widest release yet and a significant upgrade from previous releases. Definition is fantastic across the whole frame, resulting in details that were previously unseen. Grain is also intact and the colour grading is faithful. Some will point out that the black levels appear at touch weak at times, but this is no fault of the transfer - rather, it's part of the original photography. I find it more of a crime when studios crush black levels beyond any kind of filmic look, so again, credit to Sony. It's also nice to see a collection of extra features that, surprisingly, aren't fully advertised on the packaging. As well as a number of older documentaries in SD, there is some new HD material; one of which an interesting 'get together' with the cast. In short, this is a superb release of a classic family film. Review: Nothing like it - This is a lifetime favourite as it's perfect for the whole family even to watch on repeat. Perfection.

power yourself by reading
It 's very fun to watch this movie. I love the the portrayal of moronic corrupt parents whose life is nothing other than trivial concerns. And then comes their wonderful daughter, Matilda. Matilda literally creates a wonder out of herself without getting influenced by her ignorant parents. She does this by reading a lot. There are five primary characters in the movie, Father, Mother, Teacher, and School Master. Cast is perfect, they all displayed their characters fantastically. Father is a corrupt ignorant moron. His only concern is to make money in anyway. He is a second hand car seller. Mother is modern pop life wife with her only concern of her look. Then there is a School Master who is an frustrated fat sportive single woman terrorising the kids. And finally teacher of Matilda's class at the school. She is a good heart angel, and also a victim of school master. Self created, and self confident Matilda feels strong, and becomes a fighter against all the bullying of her parents, and school master. I just love the Matilda creating herself by reading a lot of books, but it felt bit superficial when she got witch like powers like moving things around. This is a great raw comedy. But again, witch like talents were bit too much. My most favorite scene was where Matilda visits the Public Library, and librarian lady asks her if she likes to have books with a lot of picture, her response to the lady.

One of the greatest kids movies of all time.
I bought this back in the day on VHS (remember those) for my young daughters who are all now well and truly grown up. They absolutely loved this movie and watched it over and over and over again until the taped was well and truly worn out. Although I too am very much older than back then, I have a 5 year old son, who discovered this film at his child minder's. Having now bought him a copy on DVD, he too sits and watches it over and over and over again, only now it doesn't wear out. Its a delightfully funny film with an incredible cast including; Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Mara Wilson and Pam Ferris. Highly recommend this movie for children aged 5 to 80.

Great children's film
I bought this after it had been on terrestrial TV and both children wanted to watch it again. They ended up watching it several times over a week.

''''Best Kids Film'''
Our original dvd got damaged so I was asked if I could buy another copy....I must admit I did leave it for a few months as I was pretty fed up after watch this film (1372 times well seems that much) Now quite happy to have the film again as the granddaughters have their own tv with dvd player in their bedroom to watch it another 1372 times( but without me thank goodness). This film along with Nanny McFee they never seem to tire of.........Highly highly recommended for a little peace and quiet if nothing else.............but I would really recommend this film myself along with the other as both have great story lines

Qualità blu-ray favolosa! Film divertentissimo!
