I finally depleted my supply of 134a that had the original pierce style top. I ordered this tap because all the cans being sold now are the self sealing type which require a flat plunger instead of pointed. Other than that this new can tap looks functionally identical, just with a different plunger. It includes an adapter for 1/2 hoses but my manifold hoses fit directly to the taps 1/4 fitting so I won't be using that adapter. My old tap was reliable and I anticipate this one will be too since it appears to be the same product. I haven't had the need to use it yet but now I'm prepared to work with the new style cans.

I wanted to recharge my truck A/C this weekend, and needed this part - it just showed up in the mail this afternoon. The new non-piercing cans require THIS valve. And the add-on adapter is more valuable than you can imagine. My gauges were belly-up, so I borrowed a friend's set. The little extra adapter not only allowed me to use the borrowed gauges, but it also fit my vacuum pump - not being able to use the pump would have stopped me cold (no pun intended). Today, these parts would have been worth two-and-one-half-times the asking price. If you don't have one, buy this one. Then you can be like me in my truck: cool as a cucumber!
