Fingerstyle Guitar.
This book is superb! It starts by teaching the basics of fingerstyle playing and gives some simple exercises to get you started. All of the music is in standard notation and tablature, which makes it very easy to play and learn. I am particularly impressed with the way the book introduces small excerpts from popular songs to teach different techniques and styles. A lot of the songs are not complete but just a small section of a song, the reason for this I believe, is that only that section is relevent to the lesson being learnt. There are many whole songs though these being: A funky version of Silent Night, Yesterday by The Beatles, Georgia On My Mind, My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music, Imagine by John Lennon, Blowin' In The Wind by Bob Dylan, Come Together by The Beatles, Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton, What A Wonderful World, Last Track by Adrian Legg, Jack Figg by J,S Bach (Leo Kottke version), Song For George by Eric Johnson and Anji by Davy Graham (Paul Simon version). I have only been playing guitar for about 6 months and I can now play at quite a reasonable standard. By following this book and watching other people playing on youtube I have been able to learn on my own and progress very quickly. A lot of practise is required to master this style of playing but the results are definitely worth the effort. This book is a very comprehensive guide and by the end you should be at a good intermediate level. It teaches travis picking, arranging music, hammer-ons and pull-offs, left and right hand independence, use of a capo, alternate tunings and much much more. Highly recommended!

Great for any level
I’m finding the early pages are a nice basic introduction. If I was a beginner, I’d find good advice on the best type of guitar to buy and a good early start to basic fingering of chords. In fact, I’ve forced myself not to skip ahead, because doing these exercises over and over is loosening me up and reminding me of the work you have to put in - and then one day you have a wee breakthrough and realise you’re now capable of things you only dreamed of being able to play. Surprised by how inspirational fingerstyle is, and very pleased with this purchase. Great book for any level of player. Also, it feels like a book that will bend easily without pages falling out.

Super-Rundumschlag!
Klare Kaufempfehlung!

SUPERFICIAL INTRO to techniques & most advertised songs are NOT COMPLETE SONGS, just a few bars.
Very superficial introduction to techniques with little explanations and few exercises for each, beautiful choice of songs BUT promoted songs ARE NOT COMPLETE for most, only few beginning bars of most songs to illustrate a technique. Certainly not for beginners.
