This book is amazing
I used this book for a small class ages 3-7 all of the kids really enjoyed it. It is very informative, and it’s not boring with just a lot of facts. They were able to tell a story about a moles, named Mighty Mole, while providing interesting facts and details. The story alone is exciting and adventurous. I read it to my 8 year old son when I got home and he enjoyed it too. Now my kids are acting out Might Moles adventure. You should get this book. I never write reviews, but I love this book.

Fascinating non-fiction book on moles for kids
This book is a gem! Who knew that moles can dig as fast as 18 feet per hour and eat their weight in food every day? These and other fascinating mole facts are deftly inter-woven throughout Mary Quattlebaum's story about a day in the life of one particular Mighty Mole. Chad Wallace's illustrations - which beautifully show the world of underground life - are perfect for this story of an animal who helps to "enrich our soil." And at the end, there is plenty of additional material for teachers or parents to share with students. It's clearly set out and easy to understand. What a great book to help kids to learn about animal life!

Author Mary Quattlebaum takes young readers on a delightful underground adventure with the mighty mole -- a little understood creature that burrows beneath our soil. Chad Wallace's large-scale, luminous illustrations make this an ideal book for a classroom read-aloud. Quattlebaum's back matter is chock full of thoughtful suggestions for engaging kids with visual, language arts, science and math activities. The author's meticulous research is evident in the main text as well. Facts like how fast a mole can tunnnel (up to 18 feet an hour !) are shown alongside the story, which is told in elegant free verse. Vivid artwork is paired with poetic passages like " . . . Down, down, down, in a leaf-lined nest, Mighty Mole gives birth to four naked pups." It's a winning combination for non-fiction readers.

so it seems time for me to finally mention how much I love this book
It's poetry month, so it seems time for me to finally mention how much I love this book. I've used it as an example in classes and workshop. Nonfiction, full of facts AND poetry at the same time!
