Careful with the crucible - the graphite is very messy and can get all over you and your clothes
This iss a good starter kit for people wanting to try out smelting -- the price is good for what it is, and you have most of what you need except a pair of tongs and a furnace to do your own smelting.Note that you will want to make sure to use work clothes you don't mind getting very dirty, as the crucible is graphite, and it will get on everything. It would be nice if the crucible had a pour spout, but, for the price, it's acceptable that it doesn't have one.

Good price for a three pack of indispensable tools.
This is a great little crucible, especially if you're doing little projects in your house. A word of advice, one crucible per type of metal. So don't mix metals and you'll be fine. This is made out of graphite. It comes with a little graphite mold and graphite stir rod.

Decent melting set
Nice l little sets for small Meeks, the graphite stirring rods don't hold up the best depending on the temperature but for the price it's worth it.

Replaced a broken unit and did the trick
I dropped some items on the crucible that came with my furnace and broke it. This was a decent replacement. It fit right and handled the aluminum scrap I threw at it.

Actual user, not a free review.
I like the kit, the graphite bar mold is well worth the price, and you get a crucible and rod. They pack the rod in a plastic tube. The rod breaks off eventually with enough caked metal on the end, It is a disposable item. The mold is sturdy but does not survive too many drops on the floor so be gentle with it. It does survive grinding with Dremel. The crucible is big enough for Brass and Copper and low temp metals like tin.

Works great for melting pennies
I was able to nearly melt 10 pennies at home with a under-qualified torch in the crucible here before my torch melted. A warning for new users getting into this, the skim rod(stir rod?) Will get hot when using it for more than 10 seconds or so. Make sure that you have proper personal protection including gloves and eye protection. The quality of the crucible seems pretty nice. There is a bit of dust that easily comes off onto your hands when handling it upon arrival, so be careful when handling it.As far as I'm aware, this is a good crucible. I have not had any experience with any in the past, bit these seemed to work great!

Good Kit, but Handle with Care!
This kit is solid for anyone looking to get into smelting. The stir rod is a standout—sturdy and well-made, perfect for stirring molten metal. I’m excited to fire up the furnace and put it to use! However, a few things to keep in mind: the crucible doesn't have a coating, so the graphite rubs off on everything. Be sure to handle it with gloves, or you’ll end up with stained fingers. The crucible also lacks a pour spout, and the top isn’t completely smooth, which might cause some issues when pouring. Ideally, it would have included tongs to safely handle the crucible.Overall, it's a good kit with a few minor drawbacks, but it’s still a great value for anyone eager to get started with smelting!
