Loving my LoonaWhere has the Loona been all my 75 year life? I can think of many times and situations—on the road, when wilderness hiking, attending large events with inadequate restrooms—when a Loona would have saved me distraction, discomfort and distress.A chance Instagram post of a young woman in the wilderness carrying a Loona caught my eye, and I read her enthusiastic words about it. Researcher that I am, I was pleased to learn about the woman-owned company whose founders had designed the product. It was a no-brainer to order one (in lovely hyacinth blue), and it arrived a few days before I was scheduled to have hip replacement surgery by a highly recommended surgeon whose outpatient clinic is a six-hour drive from my home in Northern CA.The surgery was 3 weeks ago, and my Loona has been at my side the whole time since. I am still in active and ongoing recovery, and, at night, my Loona sits bedside. During the day, I carry it with me, just in case. Shortly I have to make the six-hour drive back to see the surgeon, and I’ll have it with me because I already know I can use it at the rest areas instead of trying to get down on the ultra-low toilets they have.Other than the briefly essential walker and ongoingly important cane, the Loona was and still is the most helpful device/piece of equipment I acquired pre-surgery.However, unlike the walker (already done with it) and cane, both of which will soon occupy space in a closet, the Loona has already become one of those indispensable things that I wish I’d had years ago. I send profound gratitude to the designers and founders and all those involved in getting to market this attractive, quality, and importantly, dignified product. Of its kind, Loona stands alone, and I am delighted to recommend this quality product highly.
