Titan Incubators Delisted Item

Brilliant little device. It has been 100% reliable for a whole year including the batteries which only just recently required changing. No more having to get up early to open the door for your chickens!

It’s cheaper than the competition and the light sensor works well. The build quality is cheap as other reviewers have mentioned. That didn’t cause any trouble but there is a fundamental problem - the string breaks repeatedly, every few days, trapping the hens in or out. I spoke to Titan when ordering replacement string and was told that the string is designed to break to protect the motor in the event of a jam, but two or three times a week, with no jam responsible? I have now given up and ordered a replacement from another manufacturer and would advise any prospective purchaser to do the same.

The product works well and is easy to set up.

Works brilliantly - lets our girls out every morning and closes after they've put themselves to bed. Does activate when we leave our backdoor light on for too long - but that just encourages us to save energy!

The only way we could get this to work was by turning the light sensor to most sensitive. But this meant that it still wouldn't close till it was almost pitch black and opened again as soon as it got slightly light. So at dusk and early it was open, ideal time for predators. We've had chickens over six years and haven't lost one. Within a month of fitting this we've lost 6.We installed a cctv to monitor our garden after the last chicken loss and saw a fox come into our garden wait around for an hour and keep checking the door opener we'd installed for the unit. It knew it was basically a feeding gate and was waiting for the door to rise.I've told the manufacturer this. It needs to close at least 30 minutes earlier and open an hour or more later. In the height of summer it will be open hours too earlier (3.30am) whilst predators are around.It's now unplugged and not used. Don't get the light sensor version.

Worked once then it died.House/casing very cheap China plastic like, would not recommend this product to any one.

We can't install externally because our door is internal to allow for a porch to prevent rain getting into the coop. So with a couple of adaptations I was able to install inside the coop - no weather issues. Jubilee clip holds the opener to the coop and a small hole lets the light through for the sensor to work. I'm happy, chickens are happy, Mr Fox isn't!
