It tires out my eyes out to look at a screen all day. So...if I want to write or relax without having to constantly check my phone, I just flip this and enjoy my hour. It's strangely relaxing, too. It's something about watching the sands of time tumbling through the hour glass that makes me feel a little more zen-like and a little more at peace. It's been an unexpected benefit for my creative pursuits.

I was worried about finding a good sand hourglass, but this one was just what i was looking for. It’s pretty sturdy and it’s exactly one hour.

The hourglass arrived two days after i ordered it and Amazon kept up with all of the tracking info, which was nice. The packaging was just as described (Styrofoam encasing the hourglass inside of a box).It arrived intact, nothing broken, no chips, and no damage. It was made of hard plastic instead of wood but it seems sturdy enough. Its not exactly timed at 60minutes but its close enough. The price was pretty cheap compared to most REAL TIMED hourglasses but next time ill look a little harder but if i cant find anything as cheap as this, this will be my las resort.

Was a tad bit smaller than expected, however it is still very nice and family and friends love it. Does not break easily, do not be fooled by negative reviews. Comes in great packaging, very nice item for gift or for your home. May purchase another for friend

First one that I ordered came shattered in the box. Didn't even bother opening since the sand was running out of the package. Reordered. The second came unbroken but with the glass shifted out of its rubber holders. Thankfully, we were able to fix this. While the hourglass is in a box packed in styrofoam, the shipper sends it in an envelope and I think that makes it more vulnerable to damage. Overall, I really like this item. I think it's a nice size and looks nice for the price. Am pleased with the purchase and their willingness to replace the broken item without hassle. Also, an added bonus that the first package did not have--they included wrapping paper, custom fit to the box, and a ribbon. VERY nice.

Great for doing concentrated "power hours" for work - flip this thing over and work til all the sand falls before taking a break! Unfortunately mine only runs about 56 minutes but that was expected by the description. I only wish I could have gotten the brown wood frame and blue sand, which wasn't an option, but I'm definitely glad I went with the blue sand as it's very pretty. The black narrow frame is a bit dull but worth it for the pretty blue sand.

When I first opened this the sand stuck after a few minutes and it would not go down. Tried to shake and turn it a few times over a coupld of days and forgot about it for a week. Then when I tried again it worked fine. Has been working ever since. We use it to monitor TV time for preschool granddaughters, they know when the sand is down their time is up for the day. When my kids were young I used one for nap time - you had to lay on your bed until the sand was all down. Of course they always fell asleep anyway, but it gave them a sense of control when they thought they didn't need a nap.

Exactly as shown. This product is made of glass and wood but the packaging was fairly substantial and arrived quickly without any problems. I am using it as a visual representation of a hydraulic issue in a watershed in Southern California.
