Create your own gummies in around 30 minutes!
The kids love DIY food and drink products so this was right up their alley. We all love gummies so they were excited about getting to make their own!For those that do infusions, there is definitely added value here as the machine does most of the work for you. It's a lot more convenient than a completely "from scratch" process. You get everything you need to make your own gummies - gummy maker, 2 silicone molds, and 4 bags of gummy mix. (2 cherry and 2 blue raspberry)To get started, just add one entire bag of gummy mix and your water to the machine and push the button. (you can also add your own flavorings or infusions if you want) That's it. The gummy maker does the rest. Once the cycle is finished, you just turn the machine upside down and dispense the gummy mixture into the molds. It can get a little goopy at times so you may have to stir a bit to keep things smooth and flowable. The gummies on their own, with no added flavorings or infusions, are just okay. I definitely think the targeted audience is going to be adding their own infusions to these, not just eating them as is. The flavors are okay, nothing special or memorable. The kids thought they were decent but probably wouldn't be enthused enough to ask for them again. The machine is SUPER easy to use and works well. The actual gummy making process is easy. It's the clean up that isn't so easy. (and you know the kids are never super motivated to help with any of that!) lol The gummy residue can be a pain to clean up and not all of the parts are dishwasher safe.If you make a lot of gummies or are interested in experimenting with different infusions and flavorings, this would be a great place to start! For those of us that are just interested in making our own fruit flavored gummies at home, it can get a little tedious at times.

awesome gummy maker!
I have used a different style gummy machine before where you have to use a dropper to fill the gummy mold and I have to say this whole design is so much better. Not only does it dispense the gummy mixture cleanly and easily, but it does a great job making the gummies with basically no effort on my part.I used the included mix to make the gummies shown and it worked great and is tasty (and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't like fake cherry flavor). I added infused coconut oil, so I melted that first (since it is cold it was solid) and put it in the mixer first and let it cool down to room temp. Then I added about half the cold water, then the mix, then the rest of the cold water. I figured that would help it not clump at the bottom but it may not have been necessary. When it first started mixing I could see a lot of powder sticking to the sides but in the end it mixed in very well with zero clumps or weird textures. As you can see I did end up with slightly more product than anticipated, but that is likely due to the coconut oil as I added about 5 teaspoons to make each gummy 10mg. The coconut oil did not affect the consistency of the gummies, it mixed in smoothly and you can't tell there was oil added. Just be prepared with another gummy mold in case you have extra mix if you add anything more than the water.Magical Butter has a from-scratch coconut oil gummy recipe on their website that I plan to try next, and I expect it will work just as well. If it doesn't I'll report back but this did such a good job mixing and blooming the gelatin and everything, I am super impressed. Cleanup was easy since everything is dishwasher safe except the base with the motor, which must be carefully hand washed but it is stainless steel inside and pretty easy to clean.Yes it is a bit pricey but if you regularly plan to make gummies it is totally worth it. It makes the process so simple and also makes basically no mess.

was not wowed
I had a lot of little problems with this that all added up to a frustrating experience.I had no idea how much oil to add to the mix (I was using infused avocado oil) as the directions simply said to add oil, tincture, or distillate. Thankfully the website cleared it up - 1.4c for oil, 1g for FECO or distillate. The directions were also unclear on when to add the infusion as it was listed in different steps on the website vs on the package vs website video. I added it at the beginning with the cold liquid (I used juice instead of water) but I'm still not sure that was the right time. After the machine beeped to say the gummies were ready, I was surprised to find that the mixture wasn't what I would consider the right consistency. It just wasn't quite all the way melted down and didn't flow smoothly from the bottle. I had to dump the content out into a double boiler to melt it down the old fashioned way - which really defeated the purpose of the machine for me. While in the double boiler, I added a pinch of guar gum to the mix because I was getting dubious of the whole works at this point.I poured the mixture back into the bottle to use the easy dispensing spout and squeeze button. That worked pretty well and I liked how quickly it let me move from gummy to gummy. Have a tooth pick on hand to unclog as you go, but working quickly is key.I realized while filling the trays that I had way more gummy mix than the trays were going to hold. Luckily, I have a set of bear molds from my prior gummy making experiences that I was able to quickly grab and keep rolling, but this would have been a mega disaster and waste. I had assumed that with this being a box set, it was everything I'd need - it wasn't. Be mindful of this and plan ahead. The gummy mixture set well and the finished gummies aren't oozing the oil out (probably thanks in part to the guar gum I added). The flavor does it's very best to stand up to the flavor of the infusion and I cannot complain about the remaining bit of herby funk that comes through. The silicone of the trays that come in the bundle is very thick. I know that they are durable and would hold up to many batches, but the thickness and rigidity of the molds make it so hard to get the gummies out. Several of them ripped at the edges as I wrestled them out. It was much easier to remove the bears that I made from my older, thinner molds.
