Best Buy
This is the 3rd portable vent I have purchased since moving into a place without an overhead oven vent and I am happy to say this one actually works. It has a very sturdy design, is easy to operate and is quiet and best of all it actually pulls in any cooking smoke and odors.

Helps to reduce amount of oil from depositing on kitchen surfaces.
We have an old exhaust fan that vents outside, but it isn't very powerful. We have issues with oil residue being deposited on top of our fridge (which is right next to the stove) and on our ceiling as the vent is in the ceiling of the kitchen. We purchased this to help pull/direct the airflow up to the exhaust fan to help reduce the amount of oil buildup. So far it has helped reduce (not eliminate) the amount of oil that ends up on top of surfaces. The machine is quiet and easy to use. It does also help to reduce odor while cooking.

It works!!
Holy crap! This thing works. I barely read instructions and set it up quickly while I was cooking. It's the first time in years my fire alarm didn't go off without me having to open windows, doors, and put on the loud exhaust fan. I was hesitant due to the the price but I am now pleasantly surprised,

Not durable
Only lasted two months :( It works great but only lasted for two months with three times a week use for a duration of only 20 minutes. Too expensive for that

Not worth it
Doesn’t really work that great. You are better off stuffing dryer sheets in a paper towel roll and blowing through it. Works way better.

I can hardly believe it worked so well!
Bought something like this earlier but it seemed so cheap we returned it without using it. Bought this one as it had more features and looked like it was made well. The first thing I used it with was Schnitzel. Hardly any odor lingered in the room. Yesterday I used it with breaded chicken. It worked even better as I had figured out a better way to position it. The noise level was acceptable even on a high setting. You could see the smoke and oil being pulled into it. It was well worth buying.

Very Effective in Reducing Grease Smoke during frying
I live in an older apartment where ventilation in the kitchen does not exist. I am very sensitive to grease smoke that is generated from frying foods in oil - I develop nasal congestion, itchy eyes which lasts for hours when exposed. So I purchased this product. Let me tell you that although it did not eliminate the food odor it reduced the grease smoke such that when my spouse fried chicken the other day, I did not experience an allergy attack as in previous instances. I say it works quite well. Yes, it is noisy, but much less so than the over-the- range hood fan that just blows the smoke back into the kitchen.

Works well but could be more powerful!
We use this when we cook steaks inside with cast iron. As many cast iron users know, when you burn off grease or get your pan hot, it can get a little smoky. This works great for sucking up the smoke if your vent/hood above your stove just isn’t doing its job well. We have an older pop up venting system and it just doesn’t pull enough air with the fan to keep the smoke out of the kitchen. We bought this and it works well. I do wish the fan was a smidge more powerful.
