I was looking for some bamboo stakes to prop up plants in the garden. It seems that the hollow bamboo stakes don't last but a few years when left in the soil, so I'm expecting to get some longer life from these solid bamboo stakes. They easily sharpen with a pencil sharpener and they are ready for the garden. And I won't rule out that some will find their way into some other project of mine.Consistency is very good, with only a few being slightly warped--not an issue for my purpose.

I’m using these for teaching how to build lashing projects to scouts, in miniature. In my project the exact diameter isn’t an issue, but it is 6mm not a quarter inch. The wood is strong, the size is perfect in both length and diameter, and none have broken even after hours of kids playing with them. The wood is pretty. Price per rod is acceptable, though I’d always like cheaper. What else can be said?

These 6 mm bamboo rods measure just under 1/4”. The description is a bit confusing as when you select the size it shows 1/4” but the photos show the actual size of 6 mm. They were all sanded smooth, but some of mine had imperfections. There were a few that were missing a chunk out of the end which although not perfect will still work for my purposes (I am going to make cat toys for a local animal shelter), but a few of them were split at the end which I will not be able to use. Some of them were a bit warped but most were straight.

I am teaching a group of middle schoolers how to spin yarn, and couldn't afford to buy them all drop spindles. I put them together with these 1/4" dowels, small wooden wheels, and 1/2" hooks (had to use a drill to start the holes for the hooks, or else the dowel would crack). It's turned out wonderfully.

I got these bamboo dowel rods as hanging rods for various fabric projects -- embroidery, cross stitch, and a hanging spice rack I'm making for myself. They're just right for my purposes -- strong for their weight, inexpensive.The dowels are smoothly turned and even width, and have an even color with no blotches on the ones I received. The ends are smooth-sawn. They're 1/4 inch wide according to my ruler. About a third of the dowels have little divits from the turning process -- a small splinter of wood is missing in some spots, and the remaining hole is a bit rough but not sharp. Three of the dowels are slightly curved, not totally straight.I'm fine with these imperfections, especially at this price point ($10 for 25 dowels at the time of this review). The dowels will be covered with fabric in all my planned uses, and I'm not doing precision woodworking. I'll be able to swap out what needlework is hanging on my wall without paying a fortune for frames. The spice rack is a series of pockets (kind of like those over-the-door hanging shoe holders, only smaller) and each pocket will have an embroidered label attached with hook-and-loop dots so I can rearrange the order over the years. The dowels will prevent the piece from curling up from the sides.I'm very happy with these bamboo dowels, they're exactly what I was looking for. I gave them 4 stars because of the minor imperfections.

Bummer. I was excited to use these as replacement axels for wheels on kids toys, but these aren't actually 1/4" so they are too loose to use as replacements. They are 6mm, which is a loose 15/64ths, not 1/4". The package even says 6mm x 300mm on it. The listing is inaccurate and these won't work for intended purpose.

There is six larger wooden dowel sticks in this set. They are very smooth so will be easy to stain or paint for many crafting projects. At twelve inches they can be cut down to use in many ways. They are one inch wide so these are good for a bigger project also.

This is a great pack of dowel rods, easy to use, and the number for the price is great value. The listed sizing is accurate, and they're working well for my craft project.
