Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section

In a recording career that was, to say the least, erratic, this is one of the essential Art Pepper albums. His tone and breathing are at the height of their powers and he was accompanied (not the right word really, they were playing at the time with one of the top jazz ensembles ) by a formidable range of talent that brought the best out in his playing. It's the sort of album that you need to play from start to finish, rather than trying to pick out favourites. If you're looking for somewhere to start in the Art Pepper canon, then this is probably as good a choice as any.

This guy is a must for any self-respecting Jazz fan's collection. Prompt delivery & well packed/protected.

For some unknown reason I have never listened to Art Pepper but after hearing some of his work on Jamey Cullen's show I bought this album...I can say I am a convert !..It really swings in a cool east coast meets west coast kind of way...I really like the cool school and this is cool

A album made with the Miles Davis rhythm section of Philly Joe Jones, Red Garland and Paul Chambers this is superlative music with Peppers rhythmic mastery and pure tone inspiring his co-players to new heights. Highly recommended for any modern jazz fans and as an introduction to the music of Art Pepper
