Q: would this model e work with 4 wires only: red, white, blue and yellow

It did not work for me as I have expected. I suspect that a power kit for the 5th wire is necessary. I am a bit disappointed that Nest does not have a better solution for this issue for so long :-(

Mine did not come with the remote sensor. The picture indicates it does and the description clearly says it does.

Q: Will this work with electric baseboard heaters?

Yes it does. In the description you will also see this: Compatibility: The Nest Thermostat E works with 85% of 24V heating and cooling systems, including gas, electric, forced air, heat pump, radiant, oil, hot water, solar and geothermal. | Heating and Cooling: 1 stage of heating (W1) and cooling (Y1) and a second stage of either heating (W2) or cooling (Y2). | Heat pump: with auxiliary and emergency heat (O/B, AUX) Fan (G) | Power (C, Rh or Rc) | The Nest Thermostat E is designed to work even if your home doesn't have a common (C) wire, but installing a new C wire may be required.

Q: Does this unit require a c wire for gas furnace & central air?

The answer is it depends, did not work on mine without the C wire, caused issues with the relay to constantly call to turn in the furnace to charge the unit. If you look online there are a lot of reports of this issue. Even Google says you have to install it first to see if it will work with your system or not.
