Kids love Maths...
Game is fabolous , my girl of 6 yrs love it . I was thinking it might not be liked being maths involved. But hats off to the maker for their innovative idea.

Very good game my 5 year old loves it
Very good game my 5 year old loves it. This is better than the 'oceans riders' game which is just addition and simple. Only issue is the markers are made of cardboard flimsy and keep falling down.

Unlike a lot of the orchard toys range this game really is engaging and doesn't feel like "work" to the children
Very clever game which would appeal to a broad age and ability range. The numeracy skills necessary involve adding or subtracting a single digit number (0-9) to a two digit number (0-50). You could always use a number line if your child is only just beginning to add/subtract. Since each player has two "monsters" and can decide which to move on each turn the game can actually develop relatively sophisticated strategy if you want it to so would also appeal to older children who can add and subtract confidently. Unlike a lot of the orchard toys range this game really is engaging and doesn't feel like "work" to the children. My only criticism is that when you get to the end of the game in order to land your final piece on the lillypad" which was number 20 and win the game you have to get the exact number required which on a 10 sided dice will take an average of 10 goes. By this time it all gets a bit boring since it comes down to complete luck. The game would have been better if they're had been two or three "lillypad" numbers so you wouldn't have to spend five minutes throwing dice endlessly at the end of the game which gets boring.

A starter game for the budding mathematician in your family, a nice blend of skill and luck is needed.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. OK yes on consideration I do rather like this game and think that it is quite clever. True it is a bit frustrating that the makers cannot spell Maths. I guess that it so suit the american market where they appear to think that there is only ever one mathematical tool that you need to learn....Basically the game is in many ways similar to that old favourite Snakes and Ladders except that you start of by subtracting you dice throws from your current position to work out where you end up and instead of a circuit layout the board is like a classic PC platform game. The target square though can be overshot and if you do overshoot it you then need to add your dice scores to your current position to get back up to the target. If your child has not yet mastered subtraction then can still count down position on their dice spin and then and bit of conversation will hopefully help them to grasp the concept of subtraction.Do read the booklet first and get your back story for the games basic scenario sorted out, this will add to the fun element. This was an instant hit with my 5 year old grandson....

Should be good at Mental Substraction to enable you to play.
I am not sure how this game has been given 5 stars by so many verified purchasers. Its very confusing. And not easy to play unless the child is really good at mental math subtraction. The game does not teach how to arrive at a number after taking away the value rolled on dice. Either you need to use a numberline in addition to count backwards or you need a calculator as the numbers are all over the game board so child loses focus when dealing with large substractions amounts. The game itself is usual cardboard game with standard pieces and colours, nothing appealing about the display.

Fun game, competitive and challenging without being off-putting
Involves a mixture of luck and strategy that is just right for the target age group. My 7 year old son loves the aliens, and the competitive nature of the game. You can bump your opponents back to the beginning, so it's a bit like snakes and ladders, but with skill and sums. You have to do a few maths calculations to work out the best moves and there's subtraction as well as addition, and I help my son out if he misses a trick. He asks me to play it a lot. Doesn't take too long to play either.

Educational and fun maths game
Great game to help with Maths. My son struggled with counting down from one number to another so I made a numberline which helped. I did think it was a little on the expensive side for what was in the game but for a teaching aid for my son I didn’t mind getting it. The aliens don’t stay clipped together very well so had to tape them.
