Cheaply made. Bottom not removable.
I bought this to replace one that was stepped on and broken. The quality of this new version is garbage. 1st one arrived but we couldn’t remove the base to install the batteries. We had several different people try but it wasn’t budging. The replacement wasn’t any better. We had to pry the base off. Once back on, it’s not coming back off. Cheap, thin plastic and very poorly made. Paid almost $30 and it’s literally dollar store quality. Returning this one also. Would give zero stars if I could. I’m upset because the older version was my cats favorite toy. This one sucks.

Good, Not Great.
This isn't very impressive for $20. It's plastic, it isn't very big, and the cage around the bird is too open, in my opinion. It's good that the cats can get the bird, but I think that them being able to pull the bird out (beyond the bars), means it may not last long. Although my younger cats liked this okay, it doesn't sustain their interest for a very long period, so that may help it last a bit longer. This will be a toy that I put away periodically, so that they become interested in it again, later. It was more suited to my kittens than to my adult cats. My cats have each other to play with, but if you want a toy that they can play with on their own, this might be helpful. Okay, but not impressed, and for $20, I thought I'd be impressed.

Dangerous toy!!
Do you not use this toy with your cat unsupervised! Ever! I heard faint crying from one of my orphan rescue kittens, 9 week old Mileena. I called her but she never came to me. I got up a few minutes later and went into the living room and found her laying on her side with her head stuck inside the bars. She was not moving, limp and had shallow breathing. I had to bust the bar to free her. Thankfully, she’s OK. I contacted one of my other friend who rescues kittens to warn her about this toy. She actually threw hers away because she too had a kitten get its head stuck in the bars. She came home from work and found the kitten laying on the ground with her head stuck between the bars. Thankfully, she’s OK as well. Had I not been home or around-Mileena would have died. I threw this toy way because I don’t take chances. So be very very careful because this thing is very dangerous.

Fun cat toy
My kitten and cats love this toy. After reading the other reviews I'm glad it only comes out while I'm around then is put away. I like how it has a timer on it. It is a great distraction toy for kitten training.

Can't open base
Despite instructions, base will not open so can't put batteries in it to actually use it. Would give 0 starts if possible.

Great toy!
I just got the toy today. Removing the base to insert the batteries was tricky but aside from that, the toy is a hit! Fun to watch my cat “hunt”.

Good toy
The little yellow bird came off after a few days. The soft bird. Underneath is a hard plastic yellow chick. Cat still likes it.

It's cute
I found it was hard to take apart to install the batteries . My cat enjoys playing with it when it's off .
