Wera5042750001 Female Square 784 A Quick-Release Chuck, Adaptor 1/4" x 1/4" Drive

Exactly what I needed. This is super robust and well made.

Very nice, well constructed and exactly what I expected.

Works as advertised

This bit adapter is immensely superior to a magnetic bit holder. The magnetic bit holders are good for fasteners, but are far too weak to properly hold a bit.

The media could not be loaded. Tested Good: Cheap T25 hex bit included with fasteners, Felo T45 hex bit, Milwaukee standard short hex bits not quick-attach type. No backlash and Wera collar locks securely.Tested Bad: Chapman Mfg hex driver bits with ball detent on bit interferes preventing Wera quick-attach collar from fully engaging however is tight fit with no backlash.Tested Ugly: Milwaukee quick-attach impact bits wobble a lot (see video), Precision Instruments 1/4-in square drive torque wrench ball detent seats prematurely so not secure, JH Williams 1/4-in square drive tools ball detent seats prematurely so not secure, tried a few other 1/4-in square drivers all the same story there's more backlash and wobble than I would expect. It seems though the Wera ball detent location is too shallow to the end of the adapter preventing 1/4-in hex drive tools from resting fully in the socket. All 1/4-in square drive tools I know of have some amount of backlash but the Wera seems just slightly different dimensional design than the other high-quality 1/4-in square drive tools that I use.Other comments: Wera quick-attach collar spins freely and has a knurled surface so it is a convenient touch point, high quality materials and finish. Wish fit was better with the tools I already have. Did not have Wera driver tools here to compare with.

In my opinion...Item arrived well packaged and in timely fashion.Very nice CNC work through out; insert bits fit well, but as another commenter noted, power bits 'work' but flop around a little. 1/4" female square drive fits well on ratchets and extensions with very little slop. Bits are retained and easily released via a spring loaded ball assembly. Release is by sliding knurled sleeve toward bit end. Unit has no magnet.These have apparently experienced a significant price increase, not sure when.Overall length is 30mm (or a little under 1 3/16"). Major OD (knurled sleeve) is about 14.2mm (which converts to a little under 9/16").Packaging indicates Czech Republic as country of origin.Review posted 6/9/2017, and will be updated should future experience warrant.--

Like everything Wera I have used, this is a high quality tool.

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews. This is a very well built adapter made wholly of metal. Excellent fit/finish. Easy to use.
