How do you program the “emojis” like in the pictures on the product page?

The instructions walk you through it. You need to upload the program to your computer once you insert the disc. It's pretty easy once you get started. It is one of the best gifts to give. We love it!

where do they put the software cd? Does it come in a box with the cd and the fan in it or a different way?

The cd comes packaged with the fan.
