I purchased this for a 12 day overseas journey, and I’m so glad I did. The bag held all my essentials for the journey there - including clothing for a day (in case my other suitcase got lost), my liquids/meds, personal items, kindle, folders of info of reservations, and some other items. I love that it opens up as a regular suitcase, making it easier to pack so things don’t get buried. A TSA agent in the US and overseas needed to open my bag and both commented how cool that was to easily access things in the bag. I also love that it has an easy access zipper in the back of the bag (which made it easy to access my liquids and kindle to get through security). I will use this bag for overseas adventures in the future and for shorter domestic travel trips. I could easily use this for a 3 day journey and not have to carry any other bag, if I packed lightly and smartly. The quality of the bag is great, and I loved that it expands. This bag fit very nicely under the airplane seat and overhead in the storage bins. The front pockets on the bag were also great - especially the key holder which I used to attach an Apple AirTag to. If you make short or long trips, this is THE BAG to get for your carry-on/personal item. If you are strategic in packing and take this bag and a small suitcase (for longer trips) you can travel lightly and not have to check any bags! I would highly recommend this bag!

The Osprey Daylite Expandable 26+6 is a fantastic travel bag. It’s very lightweight, and even when fully packed it never felt heavy to carry through the airport or on mass transit. The shoulder straps are comfortable, and the sternum strap really helps distribute weight. With some smart packing and packing cubes, it holds a surprising amount—I recently used it for a five-day trip with no problem. Best of all, it slid right under my airline seat, making it an ideal personal item. The material feels durable and the zippers are strong, giving me confidence it will last. Comfortable, versatile, and practical—this bag has quickly become a favorite.

I mainly use this backpack for commuting by car to and from work and for occasional travel here and there. It works wonderfully for this imo. Yes there are some trade offs compared to just getting a dedicated commuter pack and a separate travel bag. For example, less organization, not much padding for the laptop compartment, sideways opening can be a little awkward, etc. But those are all things I can live with for the value and versatility of an extendable bag like this. The bag is very high quality and durable for the price, nice zippers, very spacious especially when extended, lifetime warranty, etc etc. The black color is also quite nice looking and sleek enough for my tastes And the sideways opening is easily a nonissue if you just keep the zippers up top and treat it like a top loader when not packing it out.Tldr: $100 is a steal for a bag of this quality imo and it's no wonder it's regularly out of stock. Highly recommend if you can get your hands on it.

Great bag for its price range. I could not imagine an american built backpack is so cheap considering its versatility.The size is pretty compact but functional. It is also super light and a daily carry backpack.I highly recommend this backpack.

Great Osprey quality, and it holds a lot. I used it as a personal item paired with the matching Osprey Daylite duffel as a carry on for my two week trip to Europe, and I was able to hold everything I needed between these two bags and still bring home souvenirs. I did remove a star because the front pocket design is not beneficial if your bag is stuffed; the pocket doesn’t give and isn’t built outside of the front cover, so there is no way to put anything in it unless there is space still available inside the bag. This bag works as a personal item on most airlines, though it’s technically too big for the stricter dimensions on the budget European airlines.

This is really a perfect pack for travel as a personal item. It’s roughly rectangular, so maximizes space within the pack itself. The clam shell opening that goes along the front edge allows you to both pack to the top before closing when it’s laid down, and allows you to open it enough to reach in and get something from the bottom or the middle which most packs make very difficult because you can only get into them from the top. It also thoughtfully has a zipper that goes along the top at the back plate so that you can slide a laptop or tablet in or out without exposing everything in the main compartment. There are two other compartments in front of the main compartment, one which is small and at the top things you wanna get out easily, the other is mostly for flat items that will slide into another zippered section in front of the main compartment. Finally, it has water bottle holders on each side and loops where things can be attached if you want. Also has a sternum strap, which I never needed, but is there if you want it. All in all a great pack that can serve as both a personal item as well as a great day pack or will allow you to take enough for an overnight if you are setting up a homebase wherever you’re traveling to.

First of all, if you aren’t familiar with Osprey let me tell you: They are high end, quality backpacks.I use them for road & off-road motorcycle riding, check-in & carryon, and everything in between.They stand behind the product with a No Questions Asked warranty. And even though I beat the heck out of my dirt bike pack, crashed many times with it on, it has never needed to be replaced!On this Daylite pack, it fits perfectly under the seat in front of you IF YOU DON’T EXPAND IT.If you plan on putting it in the overhead compartment, by all means expand it!It is super convenient and well designed to give great access and durability.The zippers are very good quality and the main compartment even has security holes to put a TSA lock on (see video).

Personal item sized. Great for camping or travel by plane. Bucket style opening as opposed to top zipper make for organized packing and far more functional than traditional backpack. Straps are comfortable.
