How to Think: Logical Puzzles

Great gift for someone who loves puzzles

I picked up this book on sale for less than $5.00, and I'd say that's about what it's worth. The puzzles in here that are actually good start off as far too easy, and then quickly jump to more frustrating than enjoyable, with several that are impossible to solve without guesswork; very few hit that sweet spot of a satisfying challenge.I don't think the author has a good grasp on what makes for a fun puzzle. Locating specific items in a venn diagram and filling math symbols into a lengthy math equation feel more like grade school assignments than logic puzzles. I fail to see how adding up 5- and 6-digit numbers and then trying to find them in some sort of numerical word search involves any logic, and I have the math skills to do it, but I just don't want to.If you're looking for satisfying logic puzzles, I recommend the Montague Island logic puzzle book series by Schmittberger; it's a much better use of your money, and a far more satisfying puzzling experience.
