I Can Read (My First Reader) Paperback – March 1, 2005

My grandaughter was behind, in her first-grade class. Not only could she not read a word, she did not know that words are groups of letters and sounds, with spaces in between. I ordered this book, as well as "Dog and Cat" and "I Went Walking". I read them to her, several times, letting her match the pictures with the text. Then, after a couple of weeks of me reading, I let her read to me. Then I held my finger to one word at a time and she learned them, from rote. She can read! She is so proud that she is now tackling new books, with earnest.

I purchased this book for my kindergartner and it's very age appropriate. My child really enjoys reading it and does not get frustrated because the book is really for children just learning to read. Both my child and I are extremely happy with this book.

I purchased this as a gift for a child in kindergarten. It was about the right level, but was far too short. I would not have purchased this at the book store had I known.

This is an excellent book for a beginner reader

As an early reader, my daughter has been anxious for books that are more like "big kid books". She loved reading this as my bedtime story!
