I am not one to write reviews, but thought I should. Lately, I've developed sensitivity in my armpits due to my own sweat after I shave my pits when I do shave, I normally I use a epiliator to remove my hair, since I can not wax them on my own (I've tried). Anyway, I've been searching for the last 6 years for new deodorants as I used to only use Old Spice. Yes, I know that its a men's deodorant/antiperspirant but I loved the smell and it worked all day. But then it caused a rash, so I heard about aluminum free. Ive tried so many natural deodorants from Crystal to Tom's. Then named brands like Dove or Secret that have aluminum free ingredients. To no avail, these ended up causing or increasing my rash developments. And because of all these type of aluminum free deodorants my pits development a pigmentation. So not attractive and made feel unclean. So I broke down and tried lume. Not knowing what scent to choose or cream versus the standard stick. With scents,I can not stand Vanilla scents, the unscented had mix reviews so I chose the Peony Rose. The stick smelled pleasant, not strong so nice but the stick will only last you 6 weeks. I bought this on 11/1 and used it on day one. However, on day one I smelled the cream and by golly that was the worse smelling thing ever. I'm going to use it since I am out of the stick and see if it just as good as the stick version, I'll just have to not put it against my nose. I have changed my subscribe and save to a different scent- the toasted coconut, so I'll be back to update about if the new scent is better. But overall- lume kept my bo at bay, healed the discoloration of my pits and did not cause a rash but healed my rashes (with a little help of a good organic diaper cream). This product is costly, like all other things. But, if it helps and works I'll have to make due. More review coming soon after I get the coconut scented one.

I kept seeing all those crazy commercials and hearing the ads online. I am large chested, a little overweight (some fun little folds) and a big sweater. I had a hard time finding a deodorant that worked for me and have been using the same one for years but it has become very hard to find. This took care of the pits but when I got boob sweat or any other sweaty parts (where my legs connect to my torso for example) I would either have to use baby powder (messy) or take some kind of facial wipe and run it under my bra during the day. I decided to try Lume...it had actually been a joke in our house because my kids used to laugh at the ad and say that it was gross. Where have you been all my lift. Ok, so I feel weird because I am giving TMI but it is important for anyone that is unsure. After my shower, I take the solid stick, run it along my bra line, the inside of my thighs where my legs connect to my body and I have one little area where I have a little belly that sweats when I sit down. I could be in a sauna for an hour, come out and if someone sniffed my cleavage, it would smell like a lovely flower. Here is the deal with the invisible cream. It does not smell like the solid. It actually smells kinda weird. I believe it does because it is like a neutralizer. I actually use that for my tush and I have no fear hot sweaty I was, I'm not going to stink. I am fanatically about showering every day but for those days I stay home and stay in my pj's, I can go 48 hours and still smell pleasant. I recently took the chance and tried to use the solid under my arms. I am continuing to use my usual deodorant but I know one day I will not be able to get it and I think this solid will become my go to. I only have tried the peony scent but would like to try others...but I love this one so much!

Tl;Dr: PRO: +Gentle on sensitive skin +Masks odor CONS: -EXPENSIVE -Cream smells like chlorine -Cream doesn’t dry -Overwhelming artificial smelling fragrance (Peony Rose) I liked the sampler body wash and wanted to try the deodorant (Peony Rose variety) I bought this during a lightning deal thinking I was getting a DEAL.. (also thought it was a full-size body wash and deodorant stick.. oops, my fault) This is a 3oz cream deodorant that smells mostly like chlorine with a VERY perfumey, artificial-smelling floral fragrance trying to mask it. (Peony rose) The smell of the stick deodorant is EXTREMELY overwhelming. I had to wipe it off and put on a shirt with sleeves to cover some of the scent because I didn’t have time for a shower to wash it off. The cream smells like chlorine but the stick doesn’t. It could be because the scent is so much more concentrated in the stick. In the body wash it was fine because only a bit of fragrance lingers. If you are sensitive to smell, I can’t recommend the deodorant. I have used the cream on parts far away from my nose and it seems to mask odor and does not cause irritation to my sensitive skin. The cream seems to never dry and it feels unpleasant having the feeling of slime in the groin area that never dries. I think the tangerine or lavender sage would have been more tolerable scent-wise. I gave the deodorant stick to my 8 year old who likes obnoxiously strong scents. $30 for a stick of deodorant and 3oz tube of chlorine scented cream is a rip off. Ethique makes better deodorant. Save your money.

Waking up in the morning and my pits don’t have that onion smell. I don’t know about the 72 hours because I shower and apply every day. The peony rose scent is nice too. Being that this is just a deodorant, you will still sweat. It does keep the odor under control though. It goes on creamy not sticky at all and it lasts all day. I just wish it wasn’t so pricey.

I am a woman with MS who has been waiting for an accessible shower for awhile. I will finally get my shower installed in July, which will be nearly two years after getting approved for this home modification through a Medicaid Community Waiver program. I won’t get into the details, but in the meantime, I struggle to shower just twice a week. I was drawn to Lume not so much because I was seeking an effective deodorant (aluminum free Crystal and Dove varieties work rather well), but because of its promise to keep bacteria in check, which I believe it actually is doing because I have had fewer skin issues while using this product. However, the smell… I totally get it when other reviewers say it is like BO being covered up with perfume. It rather smells like I am applying BO to my clean, odor-free skin after showering. However, for me anyway, that baseline BO (or maybe dandruff?) smell seems to fade after I have had it on for awhile. The perfume-y cover up layer of fragrance does not smell like peonies or roses though. It smells a little bit like Burt’s Bees hand salve. Overall, I smell a little like the dirty hippy I have always aspired toward being after putting on this product. I thought about sending it back, but like I said, the antimicrobial claims of the product seem to hold up. Overall, I smell less funky than if I used anti fungal powders as a preventative measure. Once I am able to shower safely, and therefore can return to more frequent bathing, I will not be using this product. Washing up with witch hazel (which I find preferable to wipes, traditional sponge baths, and use of perineal wash) between showers only does so much. I think there is definitely a chemical reaction that happens with use of this product that either makes some people smell better, some people smell worse, and others experience something in between. I think of the smell as that of the decaying corpses of microscopic life forms. It is a bit shameful for this company to appeal to people’s insecurities to sell a product that might have legitimate uses as an antimicrobial treatment for people with barriers to bathing. I realize that is a smaller consumer base, but still. The makers of this product need to be honest and not shame people who don’t experience the desired result from using the product. Don’t be all, “are you sure you are using it right?” The advertising and the starter kits don’t clarify the need for a fabric prep spray.
