DocoShield Lip Balm w/Docosanol (3-Pack)

This stuff is incredible. Not messy, doesn’t leave a white cast on your lips like Abreva or require you to touch your cold sore, makes your lips feel good and moisturized, stays on for a long time- and it WORKS just like Abreva. Stops the burning pain and keeps the sore from getting bigger/gets rid of it faster. I will never go anywhere without it again.

GENIUS! No more throwing away lip balm because of cold sores! This stuff smells great, is an excellent lip balm, helps at first sign of cold sore tingles and I don't have to throw it away because it won't spread cold sores! Not as strong as abreva for persistent tingles but I always reach for this 1st! Can't wait to try the version with lysine.

This is the second time I've bought these. I do feel they help my cold sores not advance in size if I use it as soon as the tingle is felt. It possibly helps clear them a little faster as well. Really my only problem is that with each box I've had one tube turn very gritty and weird, the first time I could still use it but this second time it was way too gritty and didnt feel good on my lips. Not sure why this happens and this is the only reason I didnt give 5 stars. Because i feel it helps I will buy again and keep hoping one stick doesnt turn gritty, oddly enough always the 3 one and past my time to return so have yet to ask for a replacement.

I have only been using this a short time but I put right where it is tingling. I started get cold sores with the rain and unseasonally cold weather that has hit my town. I get them whenever my immune system is low ie a flu, cold, stress, insomnia etc. I was looking for something cheaper then abreva. The problem with abreva is that it is so expensive that keeping it on hand can be a budget breaker. If you don't have it on hand, if the tingling starts at night by morning it's too late. Docu is great because you can use it all the time not just when you feel the tingling. I have one on my nightstand, one in my purse and one on the kitchen table. I have been putting nonstop on and around my lips. I believe that this will keep me from ever having to deal with them again. This a relief after 30 years of dealing with these on and off. I appreciate the low price with abreva I always felt like they were gouging us. I mean seriously their price is out of sight. This company has the right idea keep the price low enough and offer it in a moisturizing lip balm that can be used continuously rather then as an emergency treatment. UPDATE: Just ordered this product again. Still plenty of product left but I never want to run out. I use these daily all day long and especially when I feel itchy or tingling on or around my lips. AMAZING!!!! I get other symptoms with my cold sores like fatigue so I know it is just under the surface running through my nerves but I haven't had a cold sore in the whole time I have been using this product.

Works better than abreva seeing as how abreva usually just wipes off quickly and this goes on like ChapStick and stays on longer and absorbs over long term 👍 awesome for preventing breakouts if you catch the cold sore early enough.

The only product I have tried that reliably prevents outbreaks. Very moisturizing, smells good. The only thing I’m not a fan of is if you put on a bit too much, it leaves a white sheen on your lips but I will take that over a cold sore anytime.

This product really works! I love it and would use it every day to prevent cold sores and relieve them when they begin. But have bought it both with Lysine and without—except for one pack the tubes don’t work properly. Once I turned the tubes enough to raise the balm it was impossible to lower the balm down again. Hence the cover tended to get stuck on the product and created a mess. If not for this problem it would give it 5 stars and a perfect review. It’s much less messy than Abreva and if you take Lysine as a supplement you can get the Doco without Lysine which is cheaper. The balm has hardly any scent and no unpleasant taste. If only the tubes worked properly I would be very happy!

I have used every lip balm under the sun, and this is the only one that truly helps my lips. My lips are allergic to the sun and anything with spf makes them blow up like blimps worse than just being in the sun. This balm protects them and keeps them moisturized. I don't go anywhere without it. I had cold sores years ago, but have never had them since I started using this product. Highly recommend!

I bought this on a gamble when I already had a full blown coldsore and realised that my Abreve was outdated and I couldn't get a replacement in under 3 days, but this was available for same-day. Immediate relief. I can't say whether or not it helped it heal faster than it would have otherwise, but it did heal up quickly and this kept it moist enough that it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as usual. since then, I have had one for sure start but applied this right away and it didn't develop further. Since then i have just replaced all my regular chapstick-type stuff with this for daily use and have not seen another one despite an unusually intense time since then, which would normally see at least one flare up. I bought a second box of 3 so that I have one at home, in my bag, at work, and in my jacket pocket. The flavour is mild and it makes a decent lip moisturizer. Sometimes it feels really slick on my lips, I don't know why that is but it's not uncomfortable or annoying so I'm fine with it, especially as it works. I'm thrilled that I don't have to keep hunting for an effective solution, avoiding ever having another one of those things actually looks possible.

I use this daily as a chapstick and I'm totally satisfied with it. I usually get cold sores at least once a year in the winter but this year I had sores three times in a row and I was at the end of my rope. I didn't get these until my last one was nearly gone but I haven't had ANY coldsores since I started using DocoShield! And I've been sick with a cold, stressed about school, moving, and global events etc. and even through all that I haven't felt even a tingle! The three pack is great, I have one in my purse, one in my bathroom, and one in my bedroom. I don't bother using other lip balms any more. It's moisturizing, feels nice and smooth, and smells lightly of strawberries? I didn't see any fragrance advertised and honestly expected it to smell medicinal but it's quite pleasant and not strong or artificial. It might even be one of the active ingredients I'm not sure.

Trust me this is the best preventative measure for cold sores out there. I’ve used abreva in the past and it never worked for me. Tried applying lip balm all the time but it’s just moisturizing only and doesn’t prevent them. I was so desperate I went to get prescribed medication for my cold sores but it’s very damaging to liver so I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use them, and also it only works after breakout. I’ve been struggling with cold sore for my entire life and usually have a breakout every month. I apply this 1-2 a day, it doesn’t only keep cold sores away it also help them heal so much faster and keep them minimal. So I’m not so worried about it’s strawberry smell or wax like consistency (only when it’s cold and will disappear once warmed up) cause these are not a problem for me. Thank youuuuu

This product has stopped cold sores from forming at all. I highly recommend this if you suffer from cold sores and want them to stop forming. At the slightest tingle, put it on. If you already have a cold sore that's formed, put this on and it will go away quickly. On the down side, your lips will feel a bit tighter and a little dryer from whatever the medication is so after a few days you may need a moisturizer that does not trigger cold sores. This is not a chap stick. Its sole purpose is to target an area where you feel a cold sore or fever blister forming, and it works REALLY well at stopping them from coming.
