Minecraft: Guide to Farming

These Mojang Minecraft guidebooks are great. I have collected the whole hardback set so far as I have started playing Minecraft. I find them vary helpful in getting me to understand the basics of various aspects of the game. The layout of the book is pleasing to the eye and easy to read. Not too wordy, and with plenty of pictures and diagrams to help you get the most from it. The information contained is enough to get you understanding what the game is about and how its various mechanics work, without getting too bogged down in technicalities and descriptions. These would be ideal for young children, but also helpful to us older ones. They are also made vary well, with a good hard cover and thick pages.

Pretty much the same opinion for my last review Bought for my son, who loves this minecraft stuff :) he's really into it, and as much as I dislike the game, the guides are well written and well thought out, they inspire him to try and recreate, adapt and plan. He is good at reading but sometimes asks me how to spell things in game, or uses the book to copy words. I've got no clue, Lego was my thing when I was a young girl, as for games I'll stick to Dragon age and Deadpool :D

Ok for a quick read and an overview, but didn't really seem to cover the practical aspects of farming in a survival minecraft world. It would have been nice for it to cover more of the basic mechanics of simple efficient farming, but it is not one of the minecraft books that we keep coming back to for more information as my son and I build creative and survival worlds.

These days it is possible to get all the info you want online, and Minecraft wikis since the beginning have been the ultimate source for the information you would find in books like these. The difference is how they are tailored for kids and without exposing your kid to whatever might be shown on the internet, they are able to learn about different aspects of Minecraft. This book is an excellent resource in the sense of providing random info on farming, as well as actual suggestions and visual guides to how to get the best farm layouts for different kinds of farming items in the game. As a long time player I also learned a thing or two and my son devoured it during our summer travel. I would highly recommend it to any parent whose kids are playing minecraft (survival).
