Very good lock for what it does

Had a bard ti.e moving dials for combination. First one the dial moved and locked. Could not open so it went in the trash.

I got this to keep my computer bag from "growing legs" when I'm traveling. Locking my bag to seat supports in the airport allows me to be inattentive without worry. When I am at conferences, I can lock my bag to the table and walk away without worry. This lock won't thwart anyone with a wire cutter, but will deter casual theft. You bag will need to be close to whatever you lock it to - the cable extends only 29 inches - but that has been enough for my needs. My only complaint is that it is too easy to accidentally retract the cable when gripping the lock to release the cable. It takes a conscious effort on my part to position my hand so this doesn't happen. It would be better if the cable was prevented from retracting when the cable is in the locked position. One star off for "too easy to accidentally retract the cable".

This will keep the honest person honest. I used it this summer to secure my #600+ helmet when I left it on the motorcycle at stops. It'll keep someone from seeing your expensive helmet or other gear unsecured and deciding to walk away with it. Is it theft-proof? Not at all. Someone with the right tools can cut the cable and walk away with your helmet, jacket or whatever. But this will keep someone from making that impulse theft of seeing your expensive helmet laying on the back seat and thinking they can walk away with it. I recommend it.

Got this cable lock to use with my motorcycle helmet. My helmet doesn’t have a D-ring so I needed something long enough to go around the shield. This lock is nice and small and fits in a pocket but the cable is nice and long. I wanted one that would fit under my motorcycle seat. This worked great. It’s easy to use and set the combination. With the thinness of the plastic sheathed steel cable this isn’t much more than an inconvenience to a serious thief but I really just wanted it to prevent opportunists from walking off with my helmet and it definitely does that.Bottom line is this is a great lock at a good price to keep your average opportunist from becoming a thief.I highly recommend!

I got this lock as a backup to the ski lock I already own. Don’t be fooled by the Amazon picture of the lock in someone’s hand, the picture is photoshopped and the lock is actually about 30% larger than shown. It is twice the size of the ski lock I own so I would never want to carry this one in my already full pockets. The biggest problem with this lock is that the cable does not lock into the length that is set when it locks. When locked, you are still able to change the cable length by pushing the cable controller button, which makes it so you cannot wrap the cable tightly around an object to secure it like my smaller cable lock can do. You get what you pay for, keep shopping, you can do better.

This could be a pretty useful, light duty cable lock. You set the four digit combination to whatever you like, pull out the roughly 29” cable, wrap it around whatever you want to secure and then press a button to automatically retract the cable to have it as short as needed. Really easy to use.However, this just feels like a very light duty lock, something I wouldn’t be comfortable relying on to keep a motorcycle helmet from wandering off. I doubt the metal cable is even 1/16” thick and likely could be cut in a few seconds with good pocketknife. The plastic case feels insubstantial as well, and I suspect you could break it with a few whacks from a brick or hammer.Still, this would be adequate to keep zippers together on luggage, to connect pieces of luggage together or similar. I will be carrying this to lock a bicycle helmet to my bike if I don’t want to carry the helmet. The lock is very light, so I do appreciate not carrying too much extra weight around.I can recommend this if you’re looking for a cable lock that’s more meant to keep honest people honest. But, if you really need to secure something that you don’t want stolen, you probably should look elsewhere.

I love that I can carry this lock in my pocket if need-be, and secure my helmet to my bike.It's easy to manipulate the combo, and it's easy to change as well. Definitely worth the $10!
