Does exactly what it says, prevents the coffee from agitating as much and adds to consistency when brewing. The water above the grounds is clear enough to see through, if that gives an idea of what it's for. Quality materials, and worth the price.

Second only to a high quality grinder, the Melodrip has quickly become the most important component of my coffee brewing routine. Nothing else has given me near the control of speed and flow that I’m able to achieve with this thing, and my coffee has been substantially – and consistently – more delicious since adding this to my extensive collection of nerdy coffee tools. I have several other pouring pitchers and shower heads, and while they’re OK, none of them has proven to be near as useful or effective as the Melodrip. Highly recommended.

Works beautifully. Like a magic coffee wand. Easy to use. Makes all the difference. Metal and plastic. Clear color and super high quality for the money.

If you are a pour-over coffee person and sometimes have difficulty getting good beans, this does help take the bite out of the coffee. It lends itself to experimentation. I've not found the glass stirring rod to be necessary unless you really are observing coffee that's clumping together in your bloom phase. You may be accustomed to getting foam in your coffee during pour over which makes some of the manucturers suggestions about what height to hold this a bit difficult. I found hovering about 1/4" above the wet grounds to be adequate. Experimenting with holding the MeloDrip a bit higher while pouring slowly also worked well. I tend to use this with most of my pours now and I have a really accurate gooseneck kettle. I tend to pour my kettle into the melodrip in a spiral swirl and then as I'm doing that move the Melodrip over the bed of coffee. Fun gadget.

I love using this tool for my pour over. It's made a huge positive change in the taste and quality of my coffee since I got it. If you love coffee and care about making it the best you can at home, definitely purchase this!
