Darice 97823 Unfinished Wood Shadow Box, 8-1/2-Inch

Great delivery. Nice little box for cheap but the sides dip in after the top and also the bottom is very flimsy/thin. However, I got exactly what I ordered and I like the product. I am excited to stain and finish the box, I'll be adding a piece of Suede to cover the bottom for my use.

This is a very nice and sturdy frame. I was disappointed to see that it doesn't have a glass in it. It's just a wooden box, basically. I was able to find a piece of glass that I can rig up to cover it for my intention but I'll be careful next time and look for shadow boxes with acrylic or glass.

Not quite what I expected. The backing on all 4 of the ones I bought shift around and are not sturdy, and I expected a shadow box to have a clear piece of plexiglass or glass with it. These are just open. I suppose I will have to find a different use for these other than what I had originally planned.

My daughter wanted to do some shadow box wall art using beach sand & shells, but I had a very hard time finding anything other than this product that was even the right style or size. At this price point, you should certainly expect better quality. The corners are glued only, and 2 of the 3 boxes we ordered came apart at those seams as we we unpacking them. This turned out to be somewhat of a blessing in disguise as I immediately decided to re-glue and pin nail the corners on all of them before starting her project. Each came with at least a ding or 2 in the wood right out of the box also, but we were going for a distressed look anyways, so not a problem for our application. The finished product looks better than we could have imagined, but I couldn't ever recommend the product to anyone not willing to overcome the construction flaws with some effort of their own.

no pre cut glass/heavy plastic comes with it for finished product?? not to happy bout that- have to finish box and decorate AND cut grooves AND buy glass/heavy plastic to be cut to fit shadow box? HHHMMMMM.......

This shadow box arrived on time.It was a perfect size.The price was great.I used it to make a gender reveal project.We found out they were pregnant with words on scrabble board. Thus the inspiration for this gender reveal.My project was a huge success.With this type of shadow box. The possiblilities are endless.I would highly recommend.Thank you

Unlike some of the reviews, my box arrived in very good condition. The wood quality is very good. I found only one little 'ding' on the front side of one of the side panels. The joints/corners were flush and square and the overall strength of the box was solid.Acceptable for display quality in my opinion.I will buy again when needed, and I hope for the same quality then.
