I own quite a few watches, and several G-shocks. I bought this one on a whim when it was on sale. It is the least expensive G-shock I’ve seen, but it has become my favorite watch, a daily go-to.Of course it has all the things that make G-shock watches great. This is what sets this model apart for me:Style: the classic black square G-shock case with a white pinstripe looks great.Simplicity: it has all the basic features, but nothing more. That’s all I need.Visibility: the new LED backlight is fantastic, and aids readability in all type of light.Budget: I don’t worry about this watch. It wouldn’t break my heart to lose it, because it didn’t cost much and I could easily replace it.This is a great watch, if you’re considering it you’ll probably love it.

NOT EL Backlight. The top of this listings says DW5600UE-1V and The bottom says DW5600E-1V The U means newer version without EL Backlight. The packaging I got said EL Backlight. The watch said LED. So... I did research. In many non Casio watches and the cheapest Casio watches the EL Backlight stop working. The only Casio watches that I found with broken EL backlighting were the cheap F105w. Long story short. It looks like Casio got the EL Backlight right! However the El backlight requires an extra power amplifier and takes a lot of power, This kills your battery life and adds extra complications making the watch less dependable. ..... and more expensive to make. The new LED looks way better than the old LED system. So ... the new system is probably better. It is a G shock after all! "Strong and dependable" is part of the G shock brand. That said, I just bought an older version with EL backlighting. I am not a Navy Seal..... I am half blind and just want to be able to roll over at night in my tent and read the screen without my glasses.

Indestructible, stylish, not too big, easy to read, CHEAP!!! This watch will never break. Even if you try to break it, I struggle to see that working. G-shock is the way to go.
