Not much of a difference here.
To preface, I do every possible thing I can to increase fuel economy in my car (within reason) and was skeptical of the capabilities of this filter before purchase due to a lot of heavy research and speaking to numerous mechanics. That being said, I bought this for my 2014 Focus, and my findings are this...PROS:It being washable, you can just rinse and reinstall, saving the cost of paper filters. Given the CURRENT rate of consumption of my paper filters, I personally, gain no benefit. Others might get more, but 60K miles into my original paper filter, it still hasn't needed to be replaced. This effectively costs approximately 2 paper filters. My engine has a SLIGHT bit more of a growl to it, when getting on the throttle. Barely noticeable. This filters better than an oiled filter, though slightly less than a paper filter. There's no oiling involved, so no chance of over/under oiling. It's a good medium between paper and oiled, and the cost also reflects this.CONS:I noticed absolutely no difference in low end torque, HP, or fuel economy. I average between 38-42MPG in my Focus before and after this filter. And actually, I've been averaging closer to 40 tops, so it could be argued that I have lost MPG with this, but this is only across 2 weeks. This is the only "after market" change I have done to my vehicle. If you don't have to replace your paper filters as often, this will end up potentially being a waste of money. My previous paper filter only needed to be dusted off every 30K miles, and is still more than capable of providing effective filtration and airflow designed for my vehicle. If most of your driving is done at lower RPM (as it should be for fuel economy) then this will probably give you no benefit. If you like to drive at higher RPM for performance, then you MIGHT notice a difference, but most of the time, cold air intakes and such types of air filtration designs end up costing power at low RPMS for gain at high RPMs. If you want to get this filter to avoid having to oil and not have to replace paper filters every 15k-30K miles (and your driving habits reflect having to change them instead of blowing them off in excessively dusty environments) then this could probably be a good choice. You will sacrifice maybe 1% overall filtration for the benefit of being able to re-use the filter, saving money over the life of the vehicle. If you drive a Focus which already gets decent mileage, you may not notice a difference in power or economy though. Those newer engines are actually pretty efficient to begin with.

Works just as advertized. In 2015 Ford Escape
This was 10 minute install. Once i figured the trick to install air filters. To replace the filter you do it on warm engine. So the plastic enclosure is playable. Seat the filter ring onto the front of the case flange. Then you can bend the back part to fit the filter onto the back lip. When you are facing the front of the car. The top cover has a lip on the flange that must go into the inside of the filter enclosure. That will allow you to put the screw in the top right in. Turn the screw a couple of turns to seat it. Then you and put in the rest of the screws. If you dont do it this way you will have a heck of time getting it together and only be able to put 3 of the 4 screws. Crappy designed enclosure. Now for the review of the AEM filter. After install it and making sure the cover is completely on. I started the car. You can hear the difference in the sound. The engine is not fighting to get enough air. Once behind the wheel and driving I noticed it ran smoother. Acceleration was smoother and it feel like there is more power. The engine no longer surges, because it is getting enough air. The paper filter that was in the car before was only 2 weeks old. As far as the gas mileage increase only time will tell. I will right another review after a month.

Great filter for the 1.6L Escape
This filter was installed on a 2014 Escape 1.6L. Easy to install, my wife and I could tell that the turbo spooled up faster and has less lag. Noticed about a 1-2 MPG increase over the stock paper filter.

Works well, no change to turbo noise
It was time for an air filter on my Focus RS at 20,000 miles considering all the CA fires and all. I was going to buy a Cobb or Green as I heard they would improve the induction noise at the intake, but then realized how annoying it is to oil filters. The AEM does what I need it to: filter dirt and be re usable.5 minute install: need 7mm socket with extensionSeat it in there well and close the box upNOTE: no difference to induction noise whatsoever. Also no noticeable power difference. Aftermarket filters are marketed as adding 5hp. You will not notice 5hp on 350hp car.

Great fit and price.
I had no problems installing this on my MK3 2012 Ford Focus SE. I was concerned about this when ordering based on forum posts about fitment in 2015~ It looks like they have fixed those issues.I went with AEM over Green / KN because I do not want an oiled filer and the problems that come with oiling. I have had KN (Closed end filter) in the past on this car and sound wise they are identical.I enjoy the sound this filter offers with the intake box cover on. It gives a bit more sporty growl to the engine without being remotely annoying or loud. The engine feels smoother as well but that is probably just placebo.Overall, solid product so far.

Had some problems installing at first...
I had a lot of trouble with this filter at first and actually was going to return it after buying a plain ol' Pur-o-lator filter at my local Advance Auto store. I was able to install the Pur-o-lator with only a little bit of trouble so I figured I'd give the AEM another shot even though I hadn't been able to get the airbox cover on when I had tried previously. It turns out I needed to kind of push in on the bottom of the filter so it would "snap" into the groove running along bottom airbox piece. Once it was in the groove the airbox cover/ top piece went on without much struggle. My 2015 Escape Titanium 2.0 AWD isn't much louder and it seems like the throttle's a bit more responsive. I'm not anticipating much of a MPG gain, I just wanted a washable filter. It seems to be built nicely, I'll update if I have any problems with it but I'm pretty confident it'll just do what it's supposed to do, for a long time.

Great Air Filter
Perfect fitting in my 2016 Ford Focus ST

Tight fit but works.
Seems pretty good so far. Only a few hundred kms on the car so far, no noticeable difference in performance from a dirty OEM filter. Fit is definitely tight on the length side. I started to think it was too long for the housing but I twisted and pushed and got the cover on.

Used in my 13 Focus St, fit Perfect and Sounds Great!
This is the second one that I have ordered...1 for my 13 Ford Escape 2.0T and one for my /3 Focus ST 2.0T. They fit great, are easy to clean, and flow way better than the OEM. Recommended.
