Beware of this item.
I bought this box of candy to give out to my students. After I took it to school, I opened one of each candy. The Hersheys were so awful, old and chalky that I discarded them. What it left me was not enough candy for my students. I have to say that the rest of the candy was fine, but then I was left with a box of candy I can'i eat so I threw out the entire expensive box. It was a waste of money and candy.

Pretty box, but the candy inside was old
Despite the rain, we had a decent amount of Trick or Treaters this year...and I always love being able to offer a wide variety of options for those who braved ringing our doorbell. A soaking wet Harry Potter, some damp Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a bunch of kids whose costume seemed to be "Seattle Resident"--as they were wearing raincoats over whatever else they had been planning to wear.I got a lot of comments about how great our house was, because we offered a lot of candy...and all kinds of variety...and kids could pretty much take what they wanted. (No, I'm NOT a dentist, why do you ask?)Normally, I'd buy all my candy in local stores--but I was disappointed by what was available this year (not to mention the prices)...so, I decided to supplement what I did find with some things I could order from Amazon--a couple of variety packs and this box of chocolate. As the trick or treating pretty much stopped around 8:30, I decided to treat myself to one piece (yeah, just ONE piece--even I am amazed by my willpower) from the candy that remained--as I'd spied a Hershey's Dark Chocolate from this box still in one of the bowls. Love me some Hershey's Dark Chocolate.I was looking forward to a nice reward for a successful Halloween...so, I opened the wrapper of that candy bar, and I was confused.Hershey's Dark Chocolate is not supposed to be white, is it? I mean, "dark" is even in the name. No, it wasn't a mistake at the factory. This wasn't a Hershey's Cookies and Creme candy bar in a Special Dark package. It look kind of like it had been dusted with powdered sugar--but you couldn't wipe it off the bar.The power of chocolate, evidently, is stronger than my sense of self-preservation. I popped that candy bar in my mouth. Instead of the taste of just bitter enough to still be tasty chocolate melting in my mouth...I got the distinct impression I was chewing through a crumbly piece of chalk....I got a bad one, I thought. So I looked for another one--but all the special darks were gone. So, I tried a Reese's Peanut Butter cup. It looked the same as the Special Dark had.And my happy feeling was crushed. Far from being the "best house" that these trick or treaters visited Halloween night 2024, I'd been offering kids disgustingly old and probably inedible "tricks" instead of treats.(But...I hear you say...you said you mixed up the stuff you got from Amazon, including the stuff from this box, with the stuff you bought from local stores--how can be sure the bad candy came from this box? Well, because one of the main reasons I bought this box was because it had Special Darks in it...as I hadn't found any variety bags of candy at the local stores with any in them... That said, I can't say for absolute certain that ALL of the candy bars from this box were bad...just that the only two that I opened were...and, despite the small sample size, I decided to call the election early.)I guess it wasn't so much willpower that kept me from only having one piece of candy from what was left over this year. And I get the sense that I'll be switching to locally sourced full sized offerings to try to rebuild my reputation as the owner of a good place to Trick or Treat at next year. (Assuming that they'll give me another chance.)I am a bit concerned about the other bags of candy that I got from Amazon--but I decided to throw all of the leftover candiies away. Which means that my November will be less fun this year than normally.Lesson learned. The cardboard box is nice. Small, but worth keeping. I'll find some festive use for it, I'm sure.(I always thought it was just candy corn that got reused every year...but that was never so bad, because that's what candy corn tastes like anyway. Unless it doesn't really, but it only does because it's old? Whoa...mind blown. What does a fresh piece of candy corn taste like??? I'll have to start an investigation. Not any time soon, though...as I've had my fill of old candy already.)

Old Chocolate
The Hershey Dark Chocolate bars are old. The exterior of the chocolate is pale and discolored, a sign of old chocolate. It also tastes bad. The Reese's also were old! And on a sad note--Hersheys bars made in Malaysia🥲

Candy included that's not shown above??
Well the presentation with the Halloween box is very cute and good for a kid that feels like they're too old to trick or treat. My son is 14 and almost 6 ft tall and sadly lost some trick or treat time because the stupid government acted like Covid was going to wipe the human race out to extinction. Now for the past 2 seasons he's had no interest going out but I still wanted to give him something for Halloween. What I found interesting is the box I received had not only the chocolate advertised but also had packs of mini twizzlers and a chewy starburst type candy that tasted like pina colada (that was the flavor name on wrapper) so my question is were those supposed to be there lol? Why were they added? It's not like my box was short on or missing any of the chocolate advertised. My son gave me a couple of the mini Hershey bars and I was a little dissapointed to see one of them not only looked old but tasted old. The ones my son had so far seem to be ok. So I removed a star for that issue. If more end up like the one I got then I'll have to edit my review to lower the rating because If I'm being honest, I could have just ran to Wal-Mart and got a bag of fresh chocolate and tossed them into a cute pumpkin bucket for less money.

All old candy, candy had a white appearance instead of looking like a normal product.
Tried 2 pieces of it and tasted old. Parts of caramel were very hard. Not good at all!!! Do not buy!!!
